Can any one tell me wat stage of life the cam belt needs changing my MG has covered 147.000 miles still runs sweet and went straight through a MOT and its been servided up to 140.00 by barrets ..

90,000 miles or 6 years - whichever comes sooner.

I would check this has been done asap if I were you.

If not it can cost up to £900 to fit, there are 3 belts to change.

If it's been serviced properly by a main dealer it should have been done once already.

If it has not been done, there is a guy on here who does them for a good price and has a great reputation.

He is called Lates and it would be worth travelling up to him, cos the stealers will want mega money!

Are te people who serviced it MGR dealers? If so it may be worth asking them why they did not change it at 90K as it should have been changed at that service (a very hefty bill)

Although it was designed for 150,000 so you are in luck.
