OK Guys,

Ive been speaking to Mark at Z and F tuning, and he has agreed to the principle of a group visit / buy

The goal of this thread is to gauge interest in the possibility. I have negotiated a discount for a group so to be eligible for this you need to be able to answer "Yes" to the following criteria

  • You have a MEMS 3 car (TF115, TF120, TF135, TF160, Later MK2 F's/ Trophy) - If you are unsure, check your engine.... if you have coil packs instead of a dizzy, you have MEMS 3 IIRC.
  • You are willing to travel and put up with the rest of us
  • You have some cash :)

Whats the point?
Damn good question :spanner:
VVC / 160 / Trophy Owners - Increase in Rev limit, releasing some extra horses. other benefits
Others - Possible increased MPG, refined throttle response throughout the rev range and generally a more well behaved engine :)

(The above has *deliberately* been simplified as has nothing to do with my extreme technical ineptitude  more can be read in the following links)

<ZF Tuning website>
<TF135 remap thread link>

How much will it set me back?

Again, a damn fine question sir/Madam! :)

You can check the website, but the "standard prices" (i.e what we are not paying) are:
VVC / 160 / Trophy = ÂŁ259
Others (115, 135, MGF MPi) = ÂŁ229

Based on a group of 10 people, I have negotiated a FLAT RATE of ÂŁ199 PER CAR, regardless of model or remap. THiS MEANS ALL UPGRADES WILL BE THE COMPLETE PHASE 2 (i.e full whack). :faint::faint:

(I have also decided that due to the significant amount of wedge we will be putting his way, Mark will also be buying us fish & chips.... however, he is as yet unaware of this :smug_git: so I cannot promise lol)

I will update this post with a list of YES's / MAYBE's as the thread continues. Im looking at potential dates at the mo, but an ideal would be a weekend in the 1st half of July.

Regards
Nigel

Deffo a weekend date, ill add you to the list

Sorry to sound thick, but can someone post pics of the two different setups so I know what I am looking for.

I have a 2000MY W Reg MGF VVC.

Thanks

PS - well done on negotiating the discount
No probs, always happy for some rep :D

take off you engine cover and unscrew the top plate (as if you are about to change your sparkplugs)... if you see these two blocks your all good.

Wheres the company based? and what could it do to my 135? talk to me ;P
Well, seeing as I have a 135 too, it will do the same to both of us. Basically an extra 6-8HP, but more importantly a much better response to the throttle through the rev range. Checkout the link above about the 135 remap for more details and a review.

Company is based on the south half of the M6 - I'll happily talk to you, but maybe you should read more and click the link to the site? :badaboom: (just kidding! ;))

All cars built/sold after January 2001 are MEMS3 :)

Which means mine's not. Boo hoo.

Nigel can you ask Mark whether he has any plans to move into the earlier MEMS versions? I suspect not, as they're not re-writable in the way that MEMS3 is - or perhaps he has a cunning way of making MEMS3 run a MEMS1.9 or 2J engine without the need to add the additional sensors? That'd be nice...

Go ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon :D

I would be interested if its a tailored map done on a rolling road rather then a 'one size fits all' and if the phase 2 map can be done with 95 RON fuel (FYI the ZF website states the phase 2 is for 98RON).

If that can't be done as part of the group buy, don't worry, I'm not far from Mark so can always get it done independently.
I did mention to Mark that a few people may want RR's but TBH the reason I wasnt going this way was that the tailored remaps tend to be tailored for a "snapshot" of your cars modded state. Change any more parts and it may need "re-tailoring" if such a word even exists :)

Consider this a change from "Neutered one-size-fits-all to confirm to regs" to "Model optimised one-size-fits-all which allows for benefits from 98RON" ;)

Well, you knew who it was!!!! :dddc: :dddc:

Just had this from Mark re: LE 500

The LE500 might benefit even more from the recal as I think it was even more compromised for EU4 emissions.

The LE has a slightly different ecu construction to the 135 but I should have the files to enable me to communicate.

If you have definite LE interest let me know so that I can try to prepare ahead of the event.

Thanks mate. I went down this path many moons ago, but I had a RR live remap.

My view is I would only have a remap with a RR session, but that is just my view and I am sure you will all be happy with yours.

Here's to the remap club. :)

I had this very thought, but the change it would make would be minor at best - any emissions failure would mean that your system was *majorly* borderline to begin with.

Downsides? Well, the cost could be considered excessive if you are already happy with the response of your car. I think its in the same category as Mike Saturs "slickshift" where the change is slightly subtle but appears to some to make an absolute difference. there is also no visual "satisfaction" to seeing the before/after. ;)

I maybe up for this as well, it is only 20 mins from here.
Does ÂŁ199 include the normal ÂŁ49 computer analysis.

My Trophy is mems3 of course but only has one o2 sensor. Mark said the early Trophy were diferent. i am having trouble finding a misfire with T4.

ZandF were going to look at my car at Silverstone but some old sod reversed into it on Saturday.

Please put me down for a possible but will definately attend the day to see others.
