Don't you think that's a bit narrow minded!!!!

I've been done for drink driving but because I was young and naive! I should never have been prosecuted but took the word of an officer purely because he was a policeman!!

You have NO idea of this guys situation but deem it appropriate to throw comments around like that without knowing any facts! That really ****** me off!

Well I dont know the circumstances either, but even a small amount of alcohol has been proven to increase reaction time and cause you to make mistages you wouldnt normally make when sober.
It's up to the individual whether to drive whilst under the influence, but unfortunately the person(s) that you may hit and injure/kill dont have this luxury. I am totally against it, regardless of the circumstances - if you can afford to go out and enjoy yourself then you should also be able to afford the bus/taxi/train home. I'm not going to get into an argument about this, but in my humble opinion it's just stupid and wrong.

Saying this, I'm sorry to hear about the accident and I hope you're ok CayRov.

As above. Dont want to get involved in any arguments, but as someone who lost their best friend when I was only 16 as he was killed by a drunk driver, I am sure you can guess my stance on the issue. As swimmerboy said though, glad you are OK CayRoy and maybe you have learned a lesson

Weve gone for a long time in this section without any fisticuffs, lets try and not spoil it :grouphug:

:dunno: I must be narrow minded too

Some one needs to explain this to me

Where's it say last night I drank alcohol, drove and deeply regret it. So much I wish to pour my guilt out to you lot. Forgive me.

I read. Got hammered, regret writing my car off but Hey My People :Broon:

May be way I read em :guns4:

I totally agree with everyone on the seriousness of drink driving. What I am saying is that Cayrov does not come from our society and therefore has different views on this subject. If any of you were adults in the 60's and 70's you would not have such strong views against drink driving as it was much more socially acceptable.

While it is right to be discusted at drink drivers in our society you cannot take the high moral ground and look down on other societies that have not actively educated people on the dangers. When I was in Italy, everyone seemed to smoke, although it was discusting to me, it is their culture and I was the visitor.

Remember that although this forum is based in Britain, it is an international forum and people with different rules/laws and standards will be posting on it. Lets try not to impose our values on others, whether they be right or wrong, as it makes us look pompous.

Nobody was hurt this time and Cayrov seems to have learned a valuable lesson. I am glad he is OK and I hope he manages to get his car back on the road.

I don't know why anyone would want to 'boast' about a car accdient, any type of car accident whether it's to do with drink driving or not. Please forgive me if you were not meaning it to sound like you were 'boasting' about it, but thats what this certainly seems like...

----------------

Lots of people are killed as a result of road traffic accidents, and it is certainly not something I want to hear or see someone talking about it in the manor of, laughing it off.

This thread is nothing but stupidity, It should be removed.

Again, another strong emotional post.

I'm afraid, Janice, laughing it off is a normal human reaction to an incident such as this. It is part of the process of dealing with a major incident. I am sure Cayrov will also be going through the other stages, such as shock, regret and financial shock as well.

Why do people want to "remove" things that are uncomfortable rather than talk them through. I am sure Cayrov, and others, have gained usefull information and lessons from this thread. I don't think anybody here thinks it is clever.

Well... i'm pleased that no one was hurt in the accident... we can all throw stones at people who admit doing wrong.. but can any of us and I mean ANY of us honestly hold our hands up and say we have always driven perfectly or within the law. yeah people may crash because of a drink too many.. but what about crashes caused by changing a CD, using a Mobile, dropping/lighting up a cigarette even looking at a bit of hot totty walking down the street (yeah that was me!). Regardless of how accidents happen, there is always a cause. It's just that some are frowned upon, but at least the guy has had the balls to stand up and say what he has done, probably knowing someone was waiting to cast the first stone. Glad youre OK...
Lets see the pics...
