You know summer is at an end when....

...your ZS is misting up inside. I had to dig out the anti-fog solution yesterday and apply it to the windows. Memories of last winter and absolutely awful demisting performance are returning to haunt me already. I expect the aircon will get more use this winter than this summer!

Bucket of lukewarm water over the screen to remove the mist! :D
I have to park my car outside at work when I'm on nights and the demisting performance after an ice scraping session is appalling. I'm considering getting a car top cover this winter.

...your screenwash bottle is finally filled only with sweet-smelling TOTAL summer screenwash!
if you seal all the leaks then it wont mist as bad

What, inside?:)
What, inside?:)
Nah, pour it over the outside (obviously! LOL) and then the water warms the screen, the warmth comes through to the inside and the mist stays away. By the time it cools down again the heater is usually warm enough to demist.

It's how I got to work on time all through the winter!! I do the side windows too so I can see at junctions.
I was surprised how quickly the air con clears the mist in an emergency
in sub-zero temperatures the aircon doesn't work... and I find that putting on the aircon, while it does demist the screen in above freezing conditions, when you turn it off the moisture on the evaporator then fills the screen and you're back to square one again :(
Pollen filter! Just swapped mine and a used-to-be very foggy car was crystal clear this morning.

It all helps! I change my pollen filter this time of year annually too, and always turn the blower on with the cover off to expel all the leaves and crud that can retain moisture... makes a mess of the car but nothing a good hoovering can't sort out

I also dropped out the blower and removed a few leaves that were caught up in it and making a noise, much better now!
i got annoyed with mine last winter and had the dash out, found the ducting for the heater outlet was cracked and allowing air to escape under the dash. while i was at it i put some of that foam pipe insulation inside the metal duct that feeds the screen vents, by reducing the volume of the metal duct they're a lot more powerful now :D

i also brought some of those Rover 45 wind deflectors off ebay, the "heko" ones, so at least i can vent the windows during rain and snow and not get the interior all wet.

the window deflectors are great tbh, i can have the heater set to feet and face on speed 1 or 2, drop the front windows an inch and every window remains mist-free

the wind deflectors are the easiest option, ~£28 from ebay for a set of 4, as they are tinted they help stop the sun blinding you from the side, well unless the sun is super low in the sky :p

It doesn't leak at all. Interior is dry but last winter's harsh weather just sucked all the air's moisture to the screen and the snow off my feet didn't help either.

Changed the pollen filter too to no effect. It's easily the worst demister I've had since a Ford Prefect though at least I could wind the windscreen out on that to see (frankly you needed to as the vacuum wipers were comedy value only).

My findings too.
Yeah, I was shocked at the demisting of my ZS when I got it, especially as I had a 400 before that I thought should be pretty similar. I get a big triangle of mist left just in front of the driver. Thought it must be the profile of the instrument blister disturbing the air flow.

Turn the recirulation off its on that works for me
aircon on , re circ off heat to full , speed4 , center dash vent shut and blower to screen , usally does the trick fine for me

Recirculation only ever goes on in high summer to help the aircon cool the car quicker.

My usual settings, yet poor performance compared to just about every other car I've owned.
the heater is better than my clio , but to be honest farting on the windscreen would be better than that
