... and buy a ZT V8 monster :D

Anyone got any ideas where I can get the best price on one?

Oh, it is soooooooooooooooo tempting. :)

The same thought had crossed my mind several times. I keep telling myself my CDTi is just the right compromise between performance and cost, but then I think of the V8 burbbling away and sanity goes out of the window. :=p:

Reliability is the big down side for me. Were the later models 'sorted'?

I think a visit to a dealer would be in order to find one as they are like hens teeth to find elsewhere.

Surely you'll get a below average trade in to get your below average price for your V8 and end up paying as much as you would have done before?

If I'm wrong, then just go buy one. I'd best do with the V6, as I've only had it a week....:)

I am sure you can convince yourself that it makes financial sense if you try hard enough. I have tried to think of some reasons for you
  1. The engine spares will be cheaper coming that short distance from Canada rather than China
  2. The car can only go up in value as a classic
  3. The tyres will be cheaper as the drive and steering are on separate wheels so they wont wear so fast :indiff:

Okay I may be stretching it a little but you really will be buying with the heart and not the head.

You could always move to a country with cheaper fuel and then really enjoy it.

I to have tried to make it sound like a good idea..

But being 24 the insurance would just be stoopid so it would be good value for me..

Tyres, fuel and mileage would be minimal ... as i could not drive it without insurance.. :irked:

Just as well i love my 190 ...

Big GT - I'm also 24 - do you mind me asking how much your insurance on the 190 is per year?

I'm paying ÂŁ590 a year on a 120+ - but have just been quoted ÂŁ500 a year on a 1.8t 160. I think my quote for a 190 ranged between ÂŁ700 and ÂŁ1500.

I seriously thought about this too, but would you get a good price for your present car?

I did a search and found a 260 on Autotrader for ÂŁ13,999!!!!!!!!!!!

Possibly basic spec, the next one was an SE High line sat nav for ÂŁ16,999.

I could go for it, but have just had a twin exit exhaust and how much fuel would it use??

I am Paying ÂŁ998 per year fully comp on my Insurance with Me my mum and dad on the policy as regular drivers.. So i am not really complaining about it..

The 260 is group 20 :yikes: Not even going to look for a quote...

Mine's averaging about 23mpg, on a mixture of driving. It's been over 26 on some fills, lowest was just under 20. Huge amount of fun to drive, even when you're just pootling around the place! :bgrin2:

Insurance wise, they seem to be group 18 or 19 depending on which insurer you talk to. Mine's currently ÂŁ966 (f.comp, 3 points, started when I was 25) with Tesco, and it has a Tracker.

They are exceptional value, and I can't imagine them depreciating too much more as not many were built. There's certainly nothing else around that I want as much for the money.

I've had the same thought of getting a V8 - do you all really think it's an investment, particularly if it is to be the main car clocking up the miles?

I've been tole that some magazine ran one for a year and averaged out at 25 mpg?

Everything I keep reading says that you should use a car regularly to keep it in good nick. Read an hilarious one about some guy who kept his "classic" in the garage most of the time. Seemed the rats liked his irreplaceable wiring loom as nesting material. Bummer.

Buy, use, look after carefully, enjoy
