Wiper Relay

Hi folks

I own a MGF and last week I noticed that when I pushed the wiper lever down, the wipers are ment to do a "Quick" wipe over the windscreen, this didnt happen. The other wiper settings were working ok till today, yes it was raining!! lol.

Now I have no wipers and there no noise for relays clicking or any noise from the wiper motor.
I have checked the 20A fuse and that is ok , so I am thinking it either the relay or the wiper motor

I have got a working spare motor but as some of you may know its a bit of a pain trying to remove the wiper motor/arms from the MGF.

So I think I want to try replacing the relay, for a few pounds, its might be an easy fix.

My question.... where is the wiper relay and are they easy to buy? (ebay doesnt have any)

Any help would be great

I'm pretty sure there is no relay for the wipers, the functions are controlled by the ECU. Back to plan B and the spare motor methinks.

Hi there,

fitted my replacement motor today and it worked a treat, took the car for a run came back and parked up, then tried my wipers, the windscreen was wet and i switched on the wipers, they moved back and forth twice then stopped.

I tried the wipers again but they wouldnt move, tried different things to get the wipers moving again, but no go, so i recon i have blown the replacement motor, bugger it.

So why did it blow??

I need another motor now, will try again next week

with the motor disconnected from the linkage, do the arms move freely back and forth ??

you must be very unlucky to have 2 duff motors then

Hi there

I know that if I replace the wiper motor its has to be the original, but is it possible to fit a different motor?

Of even a wiper conversion kit?
