Will daytime running lights kill off the TF?

I was reading a Philips ad in Auto Express and it states that daytime running lights will be compulsory for all new cars from February 2011.

Will MG revise the front or the headlight to incorporate these or decide to end production:dunno:

The Philips site was advertising a retro fit kit and their website lets you upload your car photo and place the lights so I gave the TF a try. Not sure though if the units will be too big to fit in the recesses on the bumper

Surely all they need to do is to change the wiring so the dipped beams are always on?

Cant see the need for any new lights to be added.

I myself turn on the headlights when I drive, we have had this law since I was a kid.

Morten (MGFNorway) did a good "how to" on installing a relay to give automatic daylight driving lights, not a hard job, my problem is I am just lazy and here is Sweden it takes two minutes of driving in the day without lights before people start to flash at you anyways.....

I'd go for these positions to match the lines of the car.

Not many people do, until a bored copper decides to pull them over.

I blame the Top Gear type programs that show car tests with the fog lights on. As you say, it looks "cool". The reason it is illegal is that the fog lights are not tested on MOT for alignment and can be blinding. Nearly EVERY car I see with foglights on IS distracting, which is why I always flash them. If someone is driving befind me with front fogs on, I put my rears on. :)

I think the current driving lights are for visibility with minimal power. Driving with sidelights on is next to useless as they don't improve visibility at all, it just gives some a dangerous false sense of security. Daytime running lights don't involve the rear lights either.
