will a 25ltr compressor run a impact wrench?

Has anyone out there got a 25 ltr air compressor and is using it to run an impact wrench in particular?

I mate reckoned that if i bough a 25 ltr air compressor it would not have enough grunt to run an impact wrench/gun.

I would like to use it for other air tools and a bit of spraying, but the most important thing is if it is any good for an impact wrench.

Any info would be greatfully received.

Aldi have some compressed air stuff on offer this Sunday. I have a 25ltr comp and a Clark windy gun. Works ok but makes the comp work hard. I guess it's also down to the cfm the comp produces as well as the size of the receiver.

I found the bore of the hose was a bigger limiting factor as the pressure losses down the small bore supplied hose were significant. A larger bore hose made all the difference and my tool work better.

Size matters!

It might not have been a pressure problem, more likely the volume of air than would have moved through the tool with a larger bore supply hose.

Got a reply from my other mate and he says a 24 ltr comp produces 8bar max and that a clarke 1/2" windy gun runs at 6.2 bar so its pretty close.

Can imagine its not going to undo more than 2 bolts before it has to re pressurise.

Its not the pressure thats the problem, its the cfm, it will run it but the compressor may need to charge up between uses of the gun, i have a 25l compressor which im selling due to it not being big enough for my paint gun.

Also toying with an electric impact wrench, maybe a cheepy 12v *** lighter job or a 24v cordless??

The 12v ciggy lighter is very tempting for handiness, also a 240v one might be an idea.

I want the impact wrench for blasting off rusted/stuck bolts etc rather than for changing wheels.

Thanks for the replies guys, electric is looking tempting now.
2 reasons.

1 as we all know I'm a tight git, so i dont want to shell out for a bigger comp, so 25ltr and used was my budget.

and

2 dont really want a whacking great big comp taking up 1 side of my garage if i get a larger one.

To be honest i prob wouldnt use it that often, and then it would just get used for blowing up tyres like a lot of people.

But.

I do like toys
