I saw this on the Bay and just wondered if the guy would just send me a blank for my F ( I will get it cut )

I got a Blank for £ 5.00 Including PP :)

Ben will also cut a key for you for £ 7.50 Inc VAT and PP if you send a photo of your key he can only do this if you contact him via his website.

The Key in question:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MG-Midget-MGA...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20b3e7bc54

website is:
http://www.keysinthepost.com/

I called him and ordered mine on the phone very nice bloke his number is

01689850008 ( ask for Ben )

So if you need a spare to carry in your wallet incase of any mishaps this is prob best value there is.

I am not affiliated to the above Just thought I would pass on what I consider to be something quite important and quite cheap.

John.

PS he told me he also does replacement Fob cases.

Sounds good.

But if you're not too bothered about the MG bit on the Key...

Any Key cutters can re-produce them...

I got mine done locally when why old key fob decided to disintergrate

Only cost me £3....

Im going to get another cut to keep in my wallet in case of the dreaded keys in boot scenario

Two keys two fobs for me although my car only came with one fob originally.I like the spare for the keys in boot senario.
Is it only me that finds the thought that its possible to cut a workable key from a photo a bit worrying??
Got my spare from a local key cutter for £4. It's just an ordinary key without logos and it's fine.

I know some people like to keep things as original as possible, so it'll be good for them!

I saw this on a TV programme recently. Just having a picture of a key and somethign to scale it to and it can be copied using computers and software analysis. Crazy stuff!!

Next time you are at that swingers party make sure no one is taking pics of the key bowl!

I had only one key/fob for about 6 years. Never even changed battery on the one I had and never let me down.

Now I am older and more paranoid. i now have 3 keys and 3 fobs!! 1 is in the safe, 1 is at another address I frequent
hmmmm.... Just tested a theory. Managed to get a good resolution image of a colleagues keys without him realising in under 5 seconds.

VIN is on display in his car, combine that with reg no and address and you get the EKA code for a fiver from the usual websites.

I shall start keeping my keys better hidden :yikes:

Yes, I went to a wife swapping party where we all had to put the keys in a bowl. I ended up with a Mini Metro - good swap I thought.

Address you frequent? You mean you keep a set of keys ready in the bowl at all times?

I bought an original uncut key. cost me 12quid delivered to Spain and another 3quid to get it cut.

All in all cheaper than going to the garage and ordering one. Knowing the prices of keys over here I'd think another key (non original) would cost pretty much the same.

Now the questions is, would I want a second fob?

I keep spare key in ashtray for the moment since car is garaged at all times. It's convenient til I get used to turn engine off to open the boot.

If you have a spare key and know your EKU then I guess you dont need another fob.

Is that a 4digit code? The one to unlock the door manually x number of times depending on the digit?

I have that code yes... it's printed on the original purchase receipt of the car 19,8grand!!! My car was bought originally from Clive Sutton Garage and their motto is: Service that never breaks down. Not sure if they're still in the business.

Jordi,

The sole purpose of my post was in the event someone locks their key and Fob in the boot they would have a spare to actualy Open the boot to retreive their key and fob, attached link was to a locksmith who has supplied me with a blank very cheaply, this is to put in my wallet in the event I lose my keys :(

No you do not necessarily need a second fob, however if you had locked your car and lost your key your key in the ashtray is useless as you cannot gain entrance, the Idea is to have a spare Outside the car :)

You can always gain access to the car with your spare key however you would need to know the EKA code which can be supplied by mgrovercodes on this site.

I park my car in the garage with the windows down so I can reach inside it. I don't lock my other car either. It's a private garage with an automatic door. And I live right above the garage.

Once I get my car on the road I won't keep the spare key inside it.
Received my Blank in the post Today, exactly the same as my key with the MG logo on now to get it cut and stick it in my wallet.
