On which "K" series engine ? K4 or KV6 ?
Plastic is not the best for noise, the cast aluminium ones on early "K" series were better.

Plastic one is fine for all but the VVC in the K4 range.

You won't gain anything with the alloy one on any of the other engines as the inlets on the manifold won't match and will leave a step.

also, the vvc plenum on a 1.4k actually slows the air flow into the combustion chamber.

If you in doubt about this, ring PTP ltd, they have tested the 1.4k with this on and actually reduced power. This was a mod i was going to do, but ended up selling the plenum.

 

Because of the step into the head no doubt. Must cause real turbulance and swirl.

if you had a donor vvc would it be simpler to remove head and manifold and fit to 214? or would this not work?

Other way around, the head matched to the manifold.

Not looked at the Metro one.

If it was any good they would have used it for the Zeds. In a similar way to the reason they dropped the 56mm throttle body from the Metty as the ones they fitted to the ZR are better suited.

So at a guess it will be worse with the Metty one again.

metro manifold is cast aluminium, far too expensive to keep that, changed to a plastic one instead.

I don't see how you can obtain better driveability from a larger TB. A larger TB tends to make the drive a bit more twitchy.

 

think the vvc valves are too big / spread apart to fit a 1.4 engine.

80mm?

 

Thats my kind of manifold, bit out of my price range tho lol

 

1.8 is an 80mm bore
1.4 is a 75mm bore
