You can screw/bolt it to the side of the centre console on the passenger side.
Other option is to attach it to the underside of the glove box though this will reduce legroom a touch.

 

Mine is screwed to the bulkhead in the passenger footwell

 

Mines on a cranked plate which sits on the floor and attaches to the drivers seat rail bolts. Only for track days though, its in the garage the rest of the time, it gets in the way.

thats where mine is, on the passenger side.

 

Mine is just to the right of the drivers seat, i bought one of them silver pretty ones for like 20 squidlers and its a perfect fit between the seat and the cars shell! And it looks like a NOS bottle










P.S. if someone ever gets one,make sure you keep the safety plasticy bit VERY safe... 2 days ago, parked up in a tight spot so was climbing out of the car through a 20 cm gap and accidentally pressed the FE with my foot... my black leather interior instantly turned into a junkies paradise... well, cept the powder was a wee bit differet...

As close to the fire as possible.

 

One thing's for sure, you want to be able to reach it when you're trapped in your seat and on fire.

 

Mine is behind the drivers seat, but is no secured so in an acciden may be useless or even dangerous :err:

 

Am I missing the point here? If I had an extinguisher would I want to actually hang around near a burning car which has a tank of fuel in it? My insurance covers me in the event of a fire, and lets face it, if the car were burned and needed garage work I'd probably prefer not to have my old car back but simply use the insurance money to buy another one.
That said I do have an extinguisher in my garage but more for protection of my building than the car.

I've had two cars that caught fire. On both occasions I had an extinguisher and was darned glad that I did.

I keep mine behind the driver's seat, it is in a small bag and velcroed to the carpet behind the seat.

 

I fitted mine as I traveld into Europe, which a few countries heavily reccomend you have them (only a legal requirment for residents)

 

I know a few people whos cars have randomly caught fire due to electrical problems. One of them had a fire extinguisher and calmy eliminated the fire quickly before it did any real damage. The other, who didnt have an extinguisher, panicked and pretty much ran away. He soon had no recognisable car.

Therefore I keep one just in case. It doesnt have to be forn when nyou are upside down in a field. I also know a guy who pulled someone out of a burning car and got quite burned himself trying to put out the woman who he dragged out as she was on fire!!

He did it, and received an awared for it, but if he had an extinguiser in his own car I am sure he could have extinguished the woman (if you know what I mean) quicker and with less damage to himself.

As above though some countries enforce their posession so it cannever be a bad thing.

 

Agree, it is well worth having one handy, just in case.

 

I am reading this post as our mgf caught alight on Sunday. It was the fuse box in the driver side. Very scary. We had no electrical issues so a big shock.
