is there no bolts on the sides or on the shelf if its a saloon

 

no,no bolts that i can see apart from the rear lights but i tried that and didnt work,if i touch the boot catch it works but there is no way off connectin it to that

 

aah.. what about underneath the rear seats? take the cushion off, there must be fixings there.. other than that i'm not sure..

Remove the right-hand side panel of the boot. Behind it you will find a few holes in the panel which you can sand and bolt the ground wire to .

 

I also found (in my old vectra) what the best thing I managed to do was this:

Un-bolt the center seatbelt (rarely used anyway!) and file under it. Then, pop the wire round the seatbelt bolt and tighten up.

Gave me a lovely earth connection

 

in my mk2 zr there was three bolts holding the bottom seat cussion in place so i sacrificed the one in the midle sanded her down mounted the 4guage earth cable then painted over it with hamourite to seel it from rust.

not sure on ur car but worth a look.

 

in every install i have done, i drill a hole in the spare wheel well (check for fuel lines first!), get rid of all the paint around the hole, have a good old dig at the metal with a screwdriver to ensure a good bit of raw metal and then connect the earth using a nut and bolt. you need an extra pair of hands to tighten up (unless you have really long arms!), but i have never had any problems with earth connections, alternator whine or anything using this method. if you are worried about corrosion, just slap a load of silicone over the bolt head once its all in place and you'll be fine.

don't forget to keep your earth wire as short as possible, preferably less than 1m in length and it should be at least the same gauge as your power wire...

 

my earth is linked to a bolt under the rear seats.

 

On the old car I used the left hand rear bumper mounting bolt for my earth.

Just make sure you sand down the paint first, and then grease over it (or vaseline!) when you're done to stop rust

 

use one of the suspension strut top mount bolts.
