I'm thinking of changing the colour of my straights.
The standard silver is getting a bit dull and the laquer is starting to lift due to my determination to get some winter crap off.

Is painting wheels any different to painting any other car part ?
any special primer, paint or laquer required due to heat brake dust etc etc.

I was thinking of useing hammerite smooth due to its ease of application and hard wearing capabilities, good idea or not ?

any answers or general advice greatly appreciated.

There's not a great deal to it, if you are good at getting results with a spray can then go for it, just give it a few extra coats of lacquer.

However, it is very easy to get crap results from a can so do bear this in mind.
