Whats the difference between the Rover 200 214 and 216? and whats the bhp on a 1.6? thankyou
Obviously the 1.6 is the bigger engine of the 2.

The bhp for the 1.4 is 105bhp, and the 1.6 is 110bhp i think (i am sure somebody will correct or confirm this).

The biggest difference is the amount of torque between the 2, the 1.6 has much more torque. I don't know figures unfortunately.

Out of interest, my 1.4 16V with 103 has a 0 - 60 time of 9.8 (?) on parkers car guide whilst the rest of the 1.4 16v at 103 have a slower time. So what makes mine that bit faster???

The 214i 8v is 75PS, the 214i 16v is 103PS and the 216i 16v is 111PS.

The 220D has 86PS and the 220Di has 105PS.

Depends on what trim level i guess, the more extras' the heavier the car. Thus this will affect the 0-60 times.

According to Rover's officially published figures, the 214i 16v had a Top Speed of 115mph and 0-60 in 10.2secs. It didn't differ between models, whether it be a 214i, 214Si, 214iS or any of the other 214i 16v models.

Yep definitely reduced to improve fuel consumption:

Model - Urban / Extra Urban / Combined

216i 16v - 28.2mpg / 50.5mpg / 39.2mpg

25 1.6i 16v - 31.6mpg / 53.1mpg / 42.5mpg

I suppose so but in saying that, I do have electric windows, sunroof, cd player purple carpet trim (I know it wont make much difference the colour) so that does quite add up in my case. Suppose that I dont have ABS makes it that bit lighter.

I didnt know that, I didnt get a Rover handbook with my car for some reason. Its just that the Parkers car guide, under their specifcation section, it says its 9.9. I always thought Parkers was meant to be reputable so it doesnt make sense as to why the figures dont correspond. I guess a rr is the only way to check.

EDIT: Actually, I remember reading in a few sources, that the 1.4 IS was the best model to get in terms of spec etc. Somewhat of a "flagship" model but not quite if you see what I am saying.

hmmm that does seem strange to me. I know in the 25 they restricted some 1.4's to 83ps or similar...but thats becaue they no longer had the 8v 1.4 so replaced it with a restricted 16v 1.4. The higher spec 1.4's where the full 103ps though.

But the 1.6 was allways 16v so cant understand why they would "downgrade". Do you know what differences there are that make it 109ps instead of 111ps in the 200?

As I say, it was done to improve fuel consumption, so I would assume that it would have been changes to the ECU, with a different rate of tune.
