What should I buy?

Hi guys,

I have sold my MGTF today. I believe it had 135BHP but i'm not sure. It was 52 plate.

Anyway my question is this:

I am used to the quickness / nippy speeds out of TF that I would like my new car to be the same if not quicker.

My budget is £1.5K and for insurance reasons must be 1.8L.

The main thing I want is quick of the mark (BHP).

I want to stick with MG and thinking of ZR, ZS or ZT but I have no idea of which is better for what I am looking for.

Could someone please help? I just don't want to make thr wrong decision.

Thanks Guys.

Right had a few mins so did a search of auto trader within 40miles of Maidstone, you didn't give an exact location and Maidstone is roughly in the middle of Kent.

My top two to view are:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...ransmission/manual/model/zr/make/mg/postcode/me141xb/page/1/radius/30?logcode=p

and

Both towards the top end of your budget but these were the ones that stood out to me as a good deal.

Bit of a longer drive and that grey one goes back on the list

The first one looks very good (in the photo's)
Also it is a lower insurance group 15 as against 17)
I cannot see the level of the antifreeze in the older one.

Last time I did a car search I saw 4 cars during the course of a day, planning my favourite on paper as the last stop. I figured that once I was in the car and moving the extra distance didn't make that much difference. In the end it was the favourite that I bought but it was surprising how my thoughts about the other 3 changed when I saw them in person, the most expensive one was by no means the best.

Cash is always king with traders, just haggle with them, most traders mark up their prices anyways knowing that they will get haggled down normally to the more realistic price they would want for the vehicle, I have never paid the windscreen price on any car and I always turn up with cash pound notes, works every time :)

To be honest negotiations are not my strong point. I am just too nice. I always pick the cars but my OH does the negotiation. However when I am choosing a car to meet my budget I always assume that I can knock 10% off the asking price. So that one for £1750 would be over £1500 but not that much.
That's not to say you cant get more than 10% off, but it is what I use as a working figure.
Trade sellers are much easier to negotiate with than private.
Troxie is right pay cash.

okey guys after searching for days and trying to find the balance of bhp - distance - quality and budget i've come up with this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STUNNING-...ASTEFULL-MODS-/180849173349?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2a1b736365#ht_738wt_1396

Thinking of an offer that he would accept. note i want the sterrio for sure, he says would be included for right price. I dont know value of this sterrio.

anyways i'm thinking roughly £750 for the lot, leaves £750 for work required including new backbox etc.

think he will accept?
