In my (amateur) opinion, Rover should now:

-Hold a press conference ultimately explaining the situation and rubbishing Hewitt and Tony Woodly, shame to make it personal, but someone needs to lose credibility if MGR is to claw some back.

-Explain exactly how far development on the new cars/engines has gone.

-Once things are clarified, lower list prices to baragin basment rates (not tooo low but low enough for people to notice) and try to bring about a buying spree to generate cashflow and continue trading.

Any other ideas?

Well what does this mean of the TATA link up? i think that the company will have to lose job now but they should try to keep production of the more profitable MGs going and perhaps start Rover again when this get sorted out or failing that turn back to honda, what else can be done??

The time has come to take tough action. IMHO they should strike a deal with PSA or someone equally big. They should let PSA (or another) have the dealer network in return for access for the Rover 75 and MG ZT plus any sportscars they make. This would ensure the suvival of of the dealer network.

Then MGR must go for sportcars and if they can then they should also restyle the 75. Otherwise kill it off. The future is sportcars (plus maybe one big Rover). It's going to be tough now. MGR need to deal with it now!

They need to do something visual. Show RD60 - even if not the final version, show some physical evidence that the car has been under development.
Get Peter Stevens out there maybe.
