Battery charged, brought home yesterday and took back to work today only to have the eml come on. Anyway got home and out with my Pscan, Looks like I've a duff new lambda sensor with the two codes which come up...P1185 and P0135. I'm getting to the stage of just parking it up ad moving onto the next one in line with this 160!

Nothing exciting to feedback, Had to change rear passenger side wheel on my 75th for the spare in a Tesco car park tonight due to a puncture! At least it was only cold and not raining :) Look back at last post (above) done nowt to my 160 since that post, think I will need to get battery off it tomorrow to recharge and fit new lambda sensor on weekend of dry

Took the front bumper and wings off ready for the replacements, have pumped the suspension up to 368mm Replaced the disks and pads already, new Alternator, new Battery the random MG TF is the one I sold a couple of years ago and regretted. Will be looking to get a hard top for it eventually, now to order the stays for the wings and the fixings for the inner wing covers. 😁

Hi,
Recently I have changed the front brake pads on my mg tf 135 for mintex ones as I thought braking was poor on stripping it down I found one of the brake guide rods to be seized up , so was happy to free it .

I decided to have a go at replacing the wiper motor on my F.
It seams that some one has been there befor me as pieces were missing or broken around the cowel etc.
Worst of all they cracked the lower corners of the screen which caused a crack in the screen, this is now bigger today than yesterday so i must have disturbed it.
Ufortunatly, i didn't insurer it because it not worth much here, therefore i cant claim it….!
I wonder what the availability is going to be..?

The weekend just gone, I needed to get at the headlights and so had the joy of taking the bumper off the front of the TF. It's a pretty straightforward job when looked at in theory but, as ever, add some rusted and rounded off screws into the equation and it becomes a bit of a chore. Once the whole front was up on axle stands, the whole thing is easier for access and with some persuasion, off the front all came - along with the realisation that the arch liners seem to store more grime against the body than they seem to prevent. All now jetwashed out and some areas will be getting attended to with some power tools, Hydrate 80 and eventually some lovely under-body protector. Well worth taking the liners out and having a good clean behind them every so often is my main take-away from this though.

Finally managed to find some time to get the down pipe/flexy back off the 160 to swap out the faulty lambda sensor...think this is the 5th time I've had the pipe off in the last 6 months....sadly forgot to sorn it in October so wasted 3and an half months tax on it :p Anything else goes wrong on it now, it will be up for sale!

Today I ended up taking the engine cover panel off the 160 yet again!! this time I have needed to take it off because of a water leak. Turns out its the multi coolant pipes which one has split, Looking to see if I can get a hose extender coupler as I've another set of pipes which is no good but the pipe I need is good, so looking to splice the two no good pipes into one good one.

Will deffo be getting rid of this 160 once I've sorted the water leak...... and the wiring short which means the lights are on even when off!!

Not so much what I've done but just had Claire and Jon from Rough Luck Racing over to do a full belt service on my 160. Oil, gearbox oil, coolant, plugs and filters all changed as well as a lovely remap thrown in for good measure. Reassuring to know it's all done and that I now have a baseline of servicing from which to schedule maintenance.

What do you recommend to wash the top with ?
Was going to use some basic car wash liquid/shampoo but when getting my scrubbing brush I saw I had some Mr Muscle general purpose cleaner so used that with rainwater and then a bucket of water (with rainwater) to "swill" it down....not sure what the final result is going to be until its dry.

Edit...

Took photo as roof is dry, think it will need another wash as still looking dirty in places but quite pleased how its come up, I'd forgotten the rear window surround was blue as it all looked black before washing.

Yesterday I replaced the rear silencer/back box. I have had this F since 2009 and this is the first exhaust work I have done - quiet amazing really.

I ended up removing the cat at the same time, as it was easier to cut everything apart and drill out the bolt holes etc. As many will have found previously, the nuts and bolts holding everything together were basically just mounts of solid rust, with not much perceivable shape left.

Still, at least it gave the angle grinder and various other cutting and drilling machines a work out...
