I got one of these* last winter, I found its been great for keeping the inside of the car dry, none of the normal condensation under the roof. Its still doing its job a year on so it might be worth getting a couple if you are planning to leave the car standing for long periods. Just a thought.
*Yes, apparently a tray of cat litter in the car will do a similar thing but 1. I don't have a cat. and 2. It seems a kind of precarious thing to have sat in your car and for me, a small bag I can chuck in the microwave every couple of months seems a simpler solution.
Regarding cat litter. The local moggy thinks it can sit on the roof when it feels like it. So I spend my time hoovering fluff.
I have used a cheapo plastic dehumidifier that turns to jelly when done.
Your idea of a reusable dehumidifier is a step up. Thanks for that, plus it won't fall over and slosh around.
Put the hard top on ready for the winter months. This is the second winter for me with a hard top and it instantly transforms the car IMHO. I know a lot of people class them as a waste of time & effort etc, but for me, it's an essential item for daily winter driving and I'm so glad I bought one when I did.
Spent today and last night checking flea bay for a driver side headlight,for my TF,got one posted for £27.50 also a bumper in Trophy blue at £110 posted,few scuffs on it but much better than the current one,I left the road on a slippery bend last Sunday and hit a roadsign,at about 5 mph,by the time it impacted lol.Damaged bumper,headlight,impact bar ( replacement got for £27.50)and bonnet.Its been wrote off by my insurance company and they offered me £1200,as I've spent £500 on her in the last 18 months I wanted to keep her,so get to keep her for accepting £990.My insurance will continue once I have a new MOT,which doesn't expire until April.
Spent yesterday stripping out the front of the car,now just a waiting game as replacement parts arrive,I'll make do with the bonnet for a while till I can get one at the right price,was quoted £70 + £70 p&p but don't want to pay over the odds.
Did nothing, but ordered the two number plate lamps, so I'll change them, since the original have been broken by someone, to replace the bulbs, and now are completely knackered.
Of course the new bulbs will be nice and clear LED

Had new rear lower suspension arms fitted a couple of weeks back, and was waiting for payday before getting the 4 wheel alignment sorted.
Handling became a little suspect towards the end of last week, car terrifying to drive by the end of the weekend.
New rears fitted yesterday and car is fine again now, 4 wheel being done on Saturday.
Apparently cars don't run too well on slicks.. Who knew?

Sadly, the person before me had removed the original and fitted a JVC unit, the standard one, even second hand are about twice the price of the JVC unit due to it being the same as the BMW business unit. So, if any of you have one of the ones above (XQE 100) and are not using it, they are going for silly prices on fleabay

Erm, maybe it's just me but what exactly does the OEM head unit have to offer over and above a much more modern unit other than it being OEM? - as for BMW business, what benefit is that to quality of sound reproduction? - I guess if people want to pay 'silly money' for them then they are indeed silly.
Not wanting to rain on your parade, but pray tell, what (other than OEM) advantages are there.........enlighten me because I'm all ears.........especially when it comes to music. To me, going back to an OEM unit would be akin to going back to using a cassette walkman over something like an iPod............

I will not speak of others tastes and preferencies, but I will give mine.
In some cases OEM head unit provides touch of class for enthusiasts having exactly the same what car would have when leaving the factory.
In other cases OEM head unit provides peace of mind knowing this head unit will last long knowing that is realy good head unit which will last longer than many todays modern one.
If anybody wants special sound with subwoofer sound or similar OEM head unit will mean nothing to them as they probavly will replace it as soon as it comes from factory with their best head unit with amplifier and subwoofer in the boot or similar.
Each to their own.
From my point of view this particular head unit from above is Blaupunkt and as such it is much better build than many todays head unit. Sound is excellent and if anyone wants to enhance the reproduction with amplifier and additional speakers it can. It can also be added with mp3 player. iPhone or any other smartphone, USB stick or SD card with any music you want.
This is more than enough for me.
I am also driving MGRover cars because of thier build quality, performance, ease of maintenance and reliability. In the meantime I become ethusiast regarding these cars, but that does not change my initial thinking of these cars.
Todays electronics and cars are built to last exactly defined amount of time in order to support consumer disposal habits and buying new models.
I know that might be important for economy but I do not like it and I am much more satisfied with good "old" fashion lasting electronics and cars because I do not see or hear much advantage in any new car or electronic for my taste.
When electronic brings some features I need and they were not available before I will buy it. Unitl them I am more than satisfied with existing ones.

Over the past twenty years or so, I have helped many owners of MGs and Rovers Worldwide by sending parts for their cars which are difficult to obtain in their own countries. Without exception, every one of those "foreign" owners of MGs and Rovers hold their cars in much higher regard than the average UK car consumer. Right that they do so.
UK Car consumers should not to be confused with car enthusiasts. The latter being hugely outnumbered by the former. UK Car consumers are increasingly buying cars in the same way as they do with various "White Goods" appliances. Been that way for many years now. Consumers using various media outlets, be that TV/Radio or magazines providing advice for the consumers. Being professionals, far too many assume their advice and opinions are gospel when in far too many cases, that is simply not true.
There are still many folks who tell me the reason my MGs and Rovers are so reliable and give near faultless service for many years and miles is because of their Honda or BMW engines. Yes, someone actually told me the K-Series in my car is a BMW product. A work colleague selling his car on the works Notice Board also highlighted the K-Series as a Hoinda. It must be, it's so reliable and powerful.
Many of those same folks having formed long queues to pay over the odds for foreign cars like Mercedes, BMWs, AUDIs and other stuff. Many having done so having cause to regret doing so following massive attacks by their superior foreign product on their personal finances. Best instance of that is my friendly always buys German neighbour who had to spend more on his Porsche to be repaired than I paid for my MG ZS new on the road. He also believes my ZS is so good because of the Honda engine. You could not make that up!
Folks will tell you they are not influenced by UK media negativity, especially the likes of Clarkson. Then merely listening to them discussing their next new car purchase shows they have been hugely influenced. Thanks to all those and the misguided agenda of successive clueless UK Governments, I can never again have the please of buying a new UK Built MG or Rover.

People are buying them as many older vehicle had them removed for newer units when the cars were a lot newer. I won't go into the difference of sound reproduction as that has been already addresses. It's like buying a tesco value bluetooth speaker to a Bose unit, there is no comparison

The advantage is, its the same as the original unit which was in the car when coming off the production line. Being a 75th Anniversary model I would like to keep the car as original as possible
Today she went in for a new catalytic converter - the OEM one was rattling around like a good 'un inside, not bad after 16 years I guess. No probs removing the cat as I had used marine grade stainless steel long nuts bolts & washers....the bugger was the lambda - ended up having to angle grind away part of the boss to free it up. Anyway, an hour later, we left relatively unscathed and the new moggy makes a whole world of difference....even the exhaust note sounds much better.
Here's the car going in ready for the cat to be 'castrated' - well, not quite true, as at least this moggy didn't have to have its nuts chopped off with an angle grinder :surprise:
In the latest instalment of making the damm thing stop better I have just fitted a big back brake disc kit as produced by William Naylor. Dead easy to fit, straight bolt on job.
Haven't driven it much yet and the new pads will need a bit of bedding in but it all seems very positive.
Replaced cover for the locating lug on the driver's side soft-top catch.
The plastic cover over the catch broke back in October. Couldn't find one as a separate part from any of the usual Rover/MG suppliers. So had a look for Mazda parts, being that the catches are the same as MX-5 ones. So, five quid each from a very nice chap on eBay.
The photo shows the new one in place and the broken one to the right. I put the part bag in as it has the Mazda part number on it.
I fitted the hardtop that I just bought on ebay. It's in great condition and fits well, but despite checking the paint code with the seller it's a slightly different shade of yellow to the rest of the car. It's not much but it is noticeable so I reckon it'll go for a respray before next winter.
There are other bits of bodywork needing a little attention too so it could get expensive!
I was out in it this morning and it certainly gives the car a different feel.
