Just wondering what tools etc do bodyshops use to sand and prep parts? Surely they dont hand sand pannels yet they need to go to very fine grades and sand all kinds of shapes and things?

Anyone got any idea?

Well I dont have an air comp at the moment so prob an electric one would e best but I couldnt see any that went to a low enough grade of paper. And I dont want anything bulky because I need to do some detail stuff.

As stated, the coarsest intial sanding is usually done with an orbital sander. Thereafter finer work is done using 3M wet-and-dry paper (or equivalent) which is available in many grades from very coarse to very fine.
