Ok let the rant begin

3 years ago i spent £400 on a set of polybushes for my gray TF... the engine blew on the car and i never fit them, so on they went to the TF-R!

and I've had such a chew on it's not even funny. It's not polybushes fault at all, they've been a great company to deal with.

The issue has been that polybush name their parts just like any other company would. for my skyline i could go "thats a Trailing arm" and then order a "trailing arm inner bush"

no problem

MG and their parts department decided that this would be too simple for the TF and instead decided to name the parts in a way that makes NO sense!!!

the result is matching the bushes up with where they go was a freaking nightmare!!!

so i've burnt bushes out of places i shouldn't have and poweder coated bits that shouldn't have been and also not powerdercoated parts that should have been!!!!

im WELL cheesed off now!

I'm getting a bit fed up of everything being a flipping effort now :(

I feel for you mate. Hopefully after a cup of tea and a think you'll turn this into a positive - we know you will!

As for MG/Rover naming things their own way, what can I say except that I am not surprised and it's probably another reason that points to the company's ineptness in staying in business!

On the upside, once you powder coat the bits you missed, you'll have extra powder coating! Mmmmmm. :D

sadly bud there is no upside, I just have parts that are utterly wasted and need to spend yet MORE money on replacment parts now

I dunno if it contributed to MG/R demise but it's just annoying

in a way the worse thing i ever did was buy a skyline... I wont be doing anything with it for a year yet but I look online and a drool at parts

you can get anything you want, brakes, subframes, fully adjusable suspension. its all easy and it all fits and it's a fraction of the cost of TF stuff... just starting to grind my gears

Adam, everything you are doing to your car is experimental. If it's never been done before then it's all trial and error and that is expensive no matter what your project is. I know that fitting poly bushes to a stripped down car should be straight forward but the fact that nothing else on the build has been makes this situation even more frustrating for you. At the end of the day nothing that is worthwhile is ever easy. You ARE going to end up with what might as well be a brand new MR convertable sports car that is IMHO one of the best looking cars ever designed that goes like **** off a stick :broon: This will all be worth it in the end mate, you'll see :)

Hello adam, ive been following you threads for a while now and you doing a good job a very good job at that, your building a limited edition car, a limited edition of 1 of 1 made, nows not the time to doubt what your doing you neary there. Now to take your mind off the skyline my mate has a r33 gtr, he got it 3 years ago at a cost of £9000 and £20000 later and a lot of work and a lot of the bits he buys that dont just bolt on even though they should hes still not finished. So boy keep your head and finish that car cause theres a lot of us want to see it when its DONE, ok.
