working under the bonnet today and i could hear a high pitched noise, not dissimilar to the noise you hear when the doors open with the lights on, just higher pitched and quieter. The keys were on the seat.

it was coming from the plenum chamber area, to the right of the vvc control unit.

didnt stand there long enough to hear if it stopped and didnt check if if it had after id locked the car. any ideas to what this is, dont remember it happening on my vi.

Thanks in advance

if its a mems 3 vvc it will be the idle control unit, they make this noise for about 8 minutes after the car has been switched off.

lt's normal so nothing to worry about

To the left of the throttle body you will see a black cylinder shape contraption
(idle control valve) which is attached to the plenium. Thats what will be making
the annoying noise.
