It could genuinely have a mis fire, but it could be many other things. Most notably the rear engine stabiliser bar has worn bushes and the engine is vibrating too much as a result.

Misfire is perfectly possible on a diesel, just beacuse the fuel is being injected it doesn't mean it's bening burnt. A lack of compression, incorrect fuelling, incorrect timing and other factors such as heat/cold etc can lead to misfires. Thanks for your help, car is about to have its service so will check out the rear engine stabiliser, as regards what seems to be a miss fire its hardly noticable, a miss fire on a diesel I did not think it could happen but I will stand corrected any clues as to what could cause it.
Regards Eric
As Rob suggested could be many things, if you can get it on a T4 then that may shed some light on what is causing the misfire. Thanks Rob, will be looking into all that you have told me, but I think that some of that will have to be looked at by my local Rover bloke, have had the car from new never been any problems I've been well pleased with it, thanks.
Regards Eric.
Starting problems can be down to many things tbh, Crank or Cam sensor can cause this can't remeber which causes cold or hot starting problems. Does it take longer to start when hot or cold?Hi Simon took in What Rob said, car is now booked in to TR Auto's in Bidford, I now have another small problem I'm sure its connected to my previous problem, always when we started this car you only had to touch the key and it started this last week we are having to actually turn it over I'm wondering if all this is connected and maybe even the vibration when accelerating has some thing to do with the missfire we shall see thanks again, Eric (thats not the royal we of course) it's me and the boss.
