Folks,

I have felt vibrations through my steering wheel for a few weeks now, assumed it was wheel balance that was out as it was particularly felt at between 50-70mph when accelerating and braking.

Took it to Kwik Fit for the front wheels to be balanced this afternoon . . . they told me the wheels were 20g out.

Went for a spin afterwards, and all felt fine when accelerating and the vibrations have gone, however, there are still vibrations when braking.

It had new pads and disks at the end of January, I wouldnt have thought that either of these would be failing so soon - I dont drive the car badly or brake hard. Even so, I have spoken to the garage who did the work, who are going to take a look at it tomorrow for me.

If its not the brakes, is there anything else could it be, bearing in mind the age of the car (reg'd Jan 1999)

i had a similar problem in my xr2i. i had the wheels balanced n tracking done but there was still a judder. it turned out to be the rings that are inserted in to the back of the alloys to reduce movement on the hub, they were moving alot especially around corners, id try turn left n steering wheel was pushing other way. worth a try as there only about ÂŁ20
