Urgent part number enquiry please

My year 2000 75 v6 2 litre failed mot last year on front suspension bush, excessive play, they replaced one, other was passable, but just!

MOT now due soon so need to rectify the other (nearside). Does anyone know the part number? I need to purchase tomorrow morning as I have someone ready to fit it. I think there are more bushes involved with front suspension, all I can tell you is I was shown under car the eroded bushes, they were visible without engine protection panel removed, probably about 2ft in from either side of vehicle. I am thinking perhaps they are described as front lower suspension bushes? MOT fail does not describe exactly what part, as I paid cash no receipt from garage, cost me just over a ton. All they said was they would remove, has to be put in vice to remove bush, guess they never had a puller

If you go to Rimmer Bros site they have the full electronic parts catalogue.
Here it is. Item 3 is what you want. Ensure to order the Rover part and not the MG one. They are slightly different.

Rimmer: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001541

These bushes can be replaced without dismantling the suspension arm. The bolts are difficult to reach. An angled spanner is needed. The old bush should be cut away if necessary. The new bush can be inserted over the splined end of the lower arm by rotating it (the bush) into the best position. The rubber inner can then be lubricated so the whole thing turns over the spline till it's in the correct position for bolting up.

Good tip, but what kind of lubrication ???? Somebody is bound to try OIL !!

Colvert.

:O:O:O
The end of the lower arm is (tapered) square section and the rear bush corresponds this, you can use grease to get it into position but be sure to wash it off with copious amounts of brake cleaner when in situ
Thanks guys, much appreciated, I just hope they stock this in my local Part Co or Camberley Auto Factors, should do though as they supply most garages
Camberley may be able to get what you want but may not have it in stock. Your best choice is to look here: http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=297736&highlight=garage basically a choice between driving to Maidenhead or Reading but both may well have to order the part so it's best to ring first. The Reading one will certainly have to order it as they don't keep them in stock.

Fairy Liquid, what else.
Just hose it down afterwards.

Wow, what a nightmare job, managed to unbolt the nearest bolt once wheel removed, was hard to get moving then just about 1/4 a turn at a time. Then crawled under the car for the second bolt, Everything we had was too long, the spanner, socket handle etc just clashed with the car underbody. In the end had to reassemble and leave this job, got a quote for £40 to fit as I already have the part.

Interestingly you have to be careful when buying parts too, I phoned Partco, asked them for the part, they stated I cant get it, I have to buy as an entire wishbone assembly at well over £100, Camberley Auto factors Croydon had in stock, supplied the required part at reasonable cost, without trying to con me into the entire assembly rubbish
