Hi Jamie, good on you for buying a British classic, I of course own one. With air intake the K & N one is good because it still uses the original intake from outside the engine bay, ie cold air, which is better (it's the intake in front of the left rear wheel) I'm in New Zealand and our laws do not require catalitic converters , so I am planning on buying the replacement pipe from rimmer brothers, which will improve engine breathing and may give a better sound. You will need to check the law/regulations where you are... cheers Peter

Thanks mate , great feedback. Had a look at Rimmer Bro's exhaust parts. Are you talking about the Decat Pipe part no RP1058? Might be worth a go. Cheers Jamie

There's lots out there on performance exhaust. Take a look at these two links:

Yes, but check if where you live, it's ok to remove it...

Have you thought about getting an engine remap? Along with a better breathing exhaust it's probably the best and easiest way to get more out of the car. Up grading the inlet to the bigger one fitted to the 160s could see your car pushing 175bhp+, which is quite a big jump off the original 143bhp VVCs. Assuming of corse you don't have the 1999 Trophy 160 MGF. Even so it's a big improvement on any of the 160s.

Might be worth checking if you have the bigger 304mm front discs with the AP four pot calipers.
