Although technically I did it last year...

Slid on some black ice and reshaped the side of my ZT with a tree... ??? :~(

Was only doing about 10mph, but it's surprising the damage caused - Doesn't look extensive, but it's still going to cost nearly 2 grand to fix.. Are MG's particularily expensive to mend?

And does anyone know anything about the availability of new body panels? This is worrying me slightly as I have booked the car in to be mended, but they aren't sure of parts availability yet...

Oh well, at least Me, Natalie and Cameron are safe.. I have to say that we didn't notice anything more than a slight bang and a litle bump in the cabin...

Oh Nick!
What a shame....you must feel gutted.
I know there are some supply problems with body panels for some MGR products - I'm not sure about 75 models (Haven't had one crashed yet!)

Hope you can get your car back to it's former condition soon.........:D

Are you going to insist on an MG Courtesy car when yours is in for repair? hehe

Yep, to say I was a bit pi**ed off is a bit of an understatement! Well, as the quotes I've had are in the region of 1.5k, believe it or not, it will still end up cheaper to pay for it rather than claim on the insurance.

Therefore, I'll not be taking advantage of a courtesy car, but will instead try to steal my wifes Rover 25.. :)

X-type or ZT

I'm considering a X type or a ZT160+
Agree with you that the Jag is a nice car. A couple of things to consider:

Buying any extras? (sat nav, cruise control etc) In which case, they are much cheaper on the MG) I did test drive the x type before deciding on the MG. the X type felt less powerful (admittedly I have the ZT 190+). spare parts are cheaper on the ZT, along with servicing costs. Plus, the driving experience feels much more involved on the ZT. Want to know anything specifically? Just ask away... :)

Awww! Sorry to hear that Nick, had a moment in the snow in my F over the weekend, but apart from that I just crept around the place. Oh to have FWD in weather like this.... I suppose I could reverse the car around the place instead! =P

Hmmm, have to admit that at about 6pm on Sunday night, I was wishing I owned a landrover defender... :)

Man, I know how you feel :~(
I think its mostly trim that MG-R are having problems getting hold of, something to do with the supplier being the same as BMW and MGR not being high up in the pecking order so having to find another supplier. Mind you my dealer told me this and at present I don't believe anything they say :D
Make sure you check the repair work carefully before you accept it back.

On top of this the 75 seems significantly bigger inside than the X type. I also
recall thinking that the heater controls on
the X type looked like those from a Fiesta, no doubt showing its Ford hangovers!

Also the ZT beat the X type in an autoexpress
test.

It is bigger in the front certainly, but not any bigger in the back seats.. Doesn't bother me particularly as I'm the only one that drives it... :)

Yep, some definite cheap ford switchgear in the X type, but then there's quite a lot of BMW switchgear in the ZT...

And yep, autoexpress liked the ZT more than the X-type... :):D :D :D :)
