Turbo replacement for cdti

I think it's time to replace the turbo. I've found one brand new for £300. Is this a good deal?

For info, i've tried everything else, i have a ronbox, EGR bypass, air intake mod, O ring replacement - and on a standing start yesterday, dry conditions, level surface, i couldn't do 0 to 60 in less than ten and a half seconds.

why do you think its the turbo - they aiont know for going

...and?

I've got pretty much the same mods as you, and i've done several 0-60 runs and thats the time I get each time - you can only get uber figures if you start off with full boost and dump (read - wreck) the clutch.
The 10.5 I got when I went hell for leather.

The best properly timed run was this - didn't give it enough revs (because I dont want a new clutch bill!) so it just bogged down:

60' - 3.06
330 ' - 7.52
660' (1/8 Mile) - 11.9 @ 62.8
1000' - 15.19
1320' (1/4 Mile) - 17.81 @ 88.1

0-x MPH:
10 - 1.11
20 - 2.09
30 - 4.06
40 - 5.93
50 - 8.27
60 - 10.84
70 - 13.23
80 - 15.77
90 - 19.64

After 70 I tailed off (thus the woeful 1/4 mile).

Gotta love "aDyno" on my phone :p

Oh that's dissappointing. I was expecting that starting with 131bph then adding the other bits ought to be giving 0 to 60 figures closer to 8 seconds.

If changing the turbo isn't going to do much I'll save my £300 but will probably now change the whole car for something with more get up and go - I don't need a diesel these days i'm doing much lower mileage so will prob get a 3 litre jag x type or s type.
Theres one thing you are forgetting about in this class the mg is the heaviest of them all, heaver than the A4/320/passat, when it comes to diesel engines we have the baby, i think that the R75/Mgzt would have been better with 3.0 v6 diesel fitted, I'll bet if it had a 3.0 engine fitted 0 to 60 would be around 7 to 8 seconds, your not going to get the same performance as a plastic golf because of the weight, Steve
0 to 60.

10 sec or there abouts aint bad for a big car like ours and a diesel to boot,
i have owned loads of various types of cars from ford rs's to hot hatches to diesels and i will tell you one thing the diesel engine in the rover/zt is a gem, and whilst people will tell you the 0 to 60 time is the holy grail, it's the 50 to 70 time which is probably the most important range when driving day to day, and fortunatly this is where this engine comes into it's own.

I know but i did recently have an Insignia 2litre diesel as a hire car 160bhp i think - and it had twice the power of the rover, plled like a train at any speed, loads of accelaration.

I agree with the guy above - would have been so muc hbetter with a 2.7 or 3litre diesel, like the S type Jag engine. That's the great thing about diesels, doesn't seem to matter how big the engine they do the same mpg!!!
