Trafficmaster - possible to silence it?!

Hi,

Our car has this fitted, not sure how useful it really is but certainly find the beeping annoying!

I think it is possible to have it switched off via T4 but is there any way of just silencing it?

Thanks

I retro-fitted mine, and had been warned that the beep might be annoying, so when I connected it up I added an extra loop of wire, into which, if it did become too annoying, I could add a switch to turn it off. IIRC, it would be to turn the lot off, not just the beeper. I imagine then that you should be able to do this, and keep the option of having what I reckon is a useful gizmo, but turn it off if it's too loud. Unlike, if possible, turning it off via T4, which would be inflexible.

So, where is the link? It's either on here, or on t'other side, and it's a how-to on retro fitting TM. I can't recall whether it's a formal "how-to" or a thread in the forum, but it's where I got the idea and encouragement to fit TM.

Hope that helps

Hi I hope this helps

To cancel a route press the button four times
To silence a message press once
To reduce message volume press the button twice during the message
To adjust the volume of the beeps press the button Three times, Eight volume levels will be given by the unit, to select the desired volume then press the button once.

Remember if you turn the volume to zero you will not hear the speed camera warning.

Ah!!!! SEE MY POST #2!!

I was forgetting there are 2 types of Trafficmaster!

I was referring only to the "free" version which comes up automatically on the message centre, and there are no buttons, or verbal messages. My apologies if I have caused confusion, but perhaps the OP could advise which system is fitted.

Hello again!

Thanks for the responses chaps, I have the basic "free" version, I don't mind it beeping occasionally but once it starts it seems to beep quite a lot and not just for updates!

That sounds a bit involved to me Malcolm, I'm not averse to a bit of tinkering but inserting wires sounds like it might require a lot of dismantling to achieve!

Guess we'll just have to live with it. We've managed two years so far but I think the wife's done a couple of trips round the M25 and up the M1 recently and I guess it would have been beeping quite incessantly!

Cheers

Stew, once you've removed the instrument pack (the hard bit), the wiring's in front of you. If you decide to do it, let me know, and I'll see if I still have the obstructions for the TM retro-fit, or if not, I can pull mine out and tell you which wire it is that the switch should be put into.

Should be easy for me to find, it's got an extra loop of wire for if I need to put a switch in.......................
