Treated the 200 to a strut brace today, gone for the OMP adjustable one as when i get the coilovers i will be cutting out most of the factory top suspension mounting points to run B&G adjustable top mounts so can get some good adjustments for camber angles....

Got the motorsport battery in today, was a bit of a pain compared to the ZR where ever wanted to put it there was a fuel pipe, chassis rail, funny shape in the floor pan etc but anyway got it more less in the place i had hoped for just slightly further back than i wanted under the passengers seat. I also added in a 150 amp mega fuse and holder just incase anything ever shorts to ground. Fingers crossed will get the kill switch etc in tomorrow and all be ready for the MOT on Tuesday....

Another quick update the 200 is finally all ready for a MOT on Monday. It was meant to go in today but while i was finishing off a few bits Friday evening i noticed one of the ZS rear shocks had mysteriously leaked with fluid to the half way point of the shock body so moved the test back to Monday but a friend had a set of rears from a 45 to get me out of trouble for now but i will just have to put up with higher rear ride height until get round to swapping the springs. Anyway....

I swapped the Rover engine mount bush for one of a ZR so i could use the Black Series poly bush insert as didnt fit in the original only trouble is now all the bushes are done at idle sounds like the dash is about to rattle out.....

And a few of the car after a wash with the GTI spoiler is finally painted and fitted just got the sill extensions left to fit. Ive also been messing about with the trim strip colours to get a few ideas on the final colour of wheels, not to sure at this point if the wheels and trim will stay white at minute....

Thought id post a few pics from the last two classic shows i took the 200 too. I must admit car shows of any kind are not really and think but thought as they were both local i would go and my glad to report a lot of people have taken a interest in the car mostly because of the engine but a lot of people have remarked on how good the body of the car is and when i tell them its never been welded and there is no filler anywhere they seem quite amazed....

Few more bits off the shopping list today, got a set of PowerFlex Black Series brake reaction bar bushes to stop the wheels moving under breaking and a set of Hardrace rear toe adjusters (thanks to Drew from RoverTech for the great price)....

Just need to get the rear trailing arms on now with the rear discs, re-adjust the 4 wheel alignment, change engine and gearbox oil and im feeling ready to take it om its first trackday when it cools down a bit as im having trouble with high coolant and intake temps at the minute.

And finally another of the car in the place it see's the most the local V-Power pump need to stop driving it so hard as im only getting 30-40 miles on £20 think the throttle bodies must be sticking open....

Ok all update on my Santa Pod trip, didnt go as well as i hoped was very disappointed in how it was run to be honest everything was so slow. Wasnt to busy there so didnt understand why, i got signed onto the track at 9:30 and stayed until rain closed play at 8:30 and in all at time we managed to get 4 runs in. First time ive ran on the new surface, ive heard from a lot of people how slippy the start is now but i didnt think be as bad as it was. Ti get off the line i had to drop front tyre pressures to 16 psi, get car moving and then straight into 2nd gear or i would just wheel spin non stop in 1st and most of 2nd. Unfortunately due to the heavy rain that came now the office closed early so i didnt get my time slips and after finding a member of staff i was told if i wanted them would have to come back Sunday, the best run i know i got from my friend behind me lining up for his race was 14.8 seconds. I was hoping for a bit better really but in comparison a Astra or Corsa VXR standard in low 15's but for an Old K reg Rover with a n/a 1.8 engine built at home on hard road tyres with an open diff on first outing i think we did ok.

Few pics of the start of the day....

2nd against a drag VW Bug with nitrous running in the 12's driven by a majorly hot blonde so at least had a reason to talk to her. I knew i couldnt win so i tried to guess the lights and make a run for it but i was a bit early and got a red light.....

As you can see there a fair bit shorter so hopefully they have added a chunk of castor. Gearing up for trackday this month as long as weather dont get to bad just need to get the rear disc's on, do a oil change and another 4 wheel alignment and finally be ready. Might get round to getting the race seat in too if the welder can fit me in

I also picked up a set of Streetwise 17" wheels for £50 to try and make a change of the straights a lot of people fit but dont like them. Still the tyre's all had 5mm so they were worth more than what i paid anyway....

Well first trackday is over and pleased to say still no problems to report. Struggled with the car in terms of handling was a bit of a dog to get turned in and hold the line due mainly i think the amount of body roll, the rear end was fairly loose too but in fairness the car is still not on coilovers and still a fair way from any finished project. All in all tho i came back with a feel for the car and the many things i need to improve but i was quite surprised how far off the ZR's pace it was.

Went over to Avo Suspension today and picked up a set of these which should help the handling a fair bit (i hope)....

I went for a set of R1's with B&G adjustable top mounts which are the entry level race units with single bump/rebound. I didnt see the point of paying another £1000 for the R2's with Independant bump rebound adjustment as i cant image i would be able to fine tune them enough to get the very best out of them.
