Doesnt look like much at the minute but over time the plan is basically have something looking much the same as a 216 GTI Dunlop Cup Car but i will be using the engine from the ZR. As the weather has been rubbish all week not got anything done other than remove the engine etc from the ZR.....

The car is a K Reg 214 Sprint, base model, non sun roof, one owner from new with loads of history (not that it matters) and has been garaged still 2013 due to illness and passing of its owner. As you can see he done a great job looking after it as its completely rust free so a great base to start the project off with

A good motor with which to start your project, but won't the body be heavier than the ZR?
Once you finish & get it on track, what class would you be racing in?

If the weights from the Dunlop series are correct it will be slightly lighter (ZR was 1060kg with me and 1/4 tank fuel) plan is to be in 750's hot hatch challenge but as the Rover is pre 95 in opens up a few more series now

Got a bit of time on the car today at last, got the inside stripped with a bit of help from my boy (he has taken a shine to the R8, says when hes finished his Go Karts will race the Rover) and all the sound deadening etc out was way more than in the ZR.....

Forgot to say yesterday I weighed the 214 on the ATL yesterday (same lane as ZR) with 1/4 tank, me, 17" wheels, 2x factory seats and OE battery and it was 1032 KG. The ZR as it stood with 1/4 tank, me and one race seat and motorsport battery was 1070 KG so good news is the Rover should be about 50 KG lighter which is great news!

Got the other camber arms today and glad to say they will work perfect got plenty of room for adjustment from standard to around -3 degrees (could go more with coilovers i think as trailing arm hits the lower shock body) So thats one job sorted on to the next hundreds
