Merry Xmas everyone, would like your views on problem I have.

just fitted a toyosport stainless steel exhaust on my Mgf mk2. Used existing cat as it wasnt too bad, bolts connecting cat to back box were rusty as hell so had to grinded and then drilled out which took a while.

issue I have it that the 2 tailpipes touch the top of the bumper so will melt the bumper if I run it too long. Looks like to me the hangers welded on the back box are too short so push the back box up to high. I need the back box about 1 cm lower just don’t know how I am going to do it.?

It sounds like the Toyosport quality control hasn’t improved in the last 10 years or so. If you search for Toyosport on the forum I am sure that you will find a few threads reporting the same issue.

Now looking at customer reviews you can guess that Toyosports are not answering my emails, not answering the phone and not answering facebook messenger messages.

so my car is off the road now until i either find someone who can unweld the hangers and put them in the correct place or bite the bullet and go and buy another exhaust from a different supplier and then get the bank credit card to raise dispute (that takes 15 weeks minimum).

merry xmas toyosports

Thats a bummer as there is no adjustment anywhere , could you
Pack the hanger plates off the subframe with some spacers and use longer bolts ? I went for
A Mike Satur Daytona really quick
Delivery if you were able to return yours
Quality superb

No adjustment. After another day of trying to get hold of them i remember originally when enquiring about the exhaust before I purchased it they called me from a mobile. So I called the mobile number back and they answered ! They said they are designed here and manufactured in china so might have been just a bad one. They suggested I take it to my garage and get them to unwell and re-weld the hangers in correct place then they will refund some cost. I am willing to try that so off to either quikfit or f1 auto centres tomorrrow to see if I bung £30 cash or so they might do that for me.

spent a fair bit on the car past month and can’t justify the extra spend on Daytona especially when I slipped in a new mike satur stainless heat shield as well.

hi everyone,
happy new year firstly.
spent yesterday driving around canterbury to all the exhaust centres that i use to see if anyone willing to look at the toyosport exhaust i bought that needs the hangers unwelded and positioned higher. needless to say no one would touch it even cash in hand. i was given racing exhaust specialists in ashford but thats a hour away from me.

also noticed the tail pipes are also not the correct distance apart which might explain some of the touching the bumper issue as well.

so i either have to take day off work and take it to ashford which to be honest dont know how they going to align it unless by guessing as the car is off the road unless i buy a temp exhaust to take the car then it can be measured and new toyosport exhaust altered.

or i buy another one but the only ones available unless i wait 3 weeks are £200 unbranded, then try and get my money back.

so, am i wrong in asking for refund from Toyosport? what would others do?

I would try to get money back, as I see too many things that needs to be aligned and at the end you might not get it correct at all and in the process you will loose option for money refund since you touched original product.

Personally I wouldn't touch the exhaust itself or I bet Toyo will wash their hands of it, register a dispute with the credit card co and see if that spurs Toyo into action.
Just as a temporary measure could you go to your local exhaust fitters or motor factors to see if they have longer exhaust rubbers which would have the effect of lowering it?
A cheap second hand one would get you out of trouble for now even the mild steel ones seem to have a long life, I think mine is original and will be 20 this year and is still in good nick. Facebook marketplace normally has a few but I presume you need the car to pick one up which is why I suggested the mounts.

surprising and fair play to toyosport they have replied yesterday and apologized and have arranged pickup and will give full refund. and luckily the day before a tt mk7 stainless steel exhaust (second hand) turned up on fleabay for £190 so i bought that so in the end apart from the hassle and no car for 2 weeks i have managed to get a tt mk7 for almost same price.

so maybe i just got a bad one for toyosport.

Toyosport blaming the Chinese manufacturer is not good enough. They should get a grip of quality control and if necessary bring manufacture back to the UK. If necessary, charge more to get it right. It is clear that what they sold to you was not fit for purpose by a long chalk so the product was unusable/unsaleable.
