was I the only one who read this and thought that the present Touareg was a Porsche?

ie I mean the car that has the silhouette and aerodynamics of a church coupled with the acceleration and top speed of a fast Mercedes?

OK so that's the Cayenne..but that pepper-related name sounds like a new MINI to me...

pat

PS I know how Peugeot got the rights to the name. It has a 0 in the middle like 404, 205 et al....

The Cayenne and the Touareg have been developed in a cooperation between Porsche and VW. So these cars have a lot in common, haven't they?

But do VW have to pay royalties to Peugeot for that name? Or wasn't that name protected by Peugeot in the early nineties?

It would seem silly to pay for the name which is oddball enough for any oddball american-indian-tribe name to be acceptable...
