Hahahahahaha had to  at that, are BMW's the new Marina's, I hope so.
Im loving that one that really did make me laugh out loud !!!!!
that has tickled me pink, E30's are heaps of ****e, and E36's are a chavs wet dream its about time his tallness had ago at the "ultimate driving machine"
If they're smashing up 3 series it's mandatory that they are all 316's with M-tech badges :broon:
i have a picture here, i tried to scan it but as it's a newspaper based mag. you couldn't see it.
the cars had been "customised" before hand.
80's 3 series BM's now they ARE head gasket munchers, oh did I just say that, I must chastise myself for critising a German car.
Great. TopGear denies potential young car owners the choice of something affordable and interesting in the name of "entertainment". Sorry but I think TopGear is beyond saving these days. It used to be funny, now it's just sad.

What sort of car enthusiast show smashes up interesting cars?
the hypocrisy here is unbelievable sometimes.

What would the reaction have been if they were 3 old Rover 200/400/800's? Or worse yet, a bunch of Montego's or something? :daft:

Not that I mind. Top gear can smash up whatever the hell they like, its all good to me. I can't get enough of their shenanigans, I just get bored of hearing people in this section moan about them smashing up old Rover/BL cars. Especially when THIS is the reaction when people get wind of them smashing up something german instead. Craziness.

With you on that. I used to be a big TG fan, and when they smashed up an old car the first time it was funny, then the second time it was amusing, now I just wish they would axe the show - it's had its day, it's just a not-very-good-attempt-at-comedy show now.

Agreed. Imagine the howls of indignation if it was Montego Turbos they were smashing.

I care nothing for Montegos, personally, nor BMW 3 series, but to deliberately smash up ANY serviceable and roadworthy cars for the sake of it, purely in the name of entertainment strikes me as being unfunny, witless, adolescent, wasteful and profoundly depressing.
if they need to smash up any car it should be something common.

eg. E36 compact or Corsa B/C

Whilst i dislike BMW smashing some 80's E30s just seems like a waste the whole trashing many cars thing is getting a little old.

that said i will watch and almost certainly i will enjoy it too!

As far as I'm concerned, Top Gear/BBC have bought the cars, they're free to do anything they want with them.

Can't wait to see it :D

I'm with Benny Dub on this one.

I won't say any more as last time I dared to post anything pro-Bavarian, I received negative rep! You know who you were. I don't, but you do :)

I couln't agree more - Top Gear is long past it's sell by date and is no longer funny - Unless they are smashing up BMWs WTF?

+1

I personally could not careless if they smash cars up, people do it all day but let's not moan if it is a model we like.

I like older cars they have the lived in appeal, a kind of "patina"
Yes they have wear and tear, rust, dent's, scratches etc but thst whilst not exactly part of the appeal is part of the fun, fixing them or putting up with the faults and enjoying them

Why bother? to me it's just plain stupid.
Because they are "lowly" 1.6's or 1.8's and not the Poooower~ful 6 cyl cars?
At least there are plenty of 3ers left to go at, for the 3 dimwits on top******** to make a difference to the "stock" of cars to choose from they would have to destroy 1000's

Long ago i stopped watching Top ******** because i don't find the show entertaining, the Veyron and the Aston with the overdubbed engine sounds going through a tunnel somewhere in europe was boring because it was fixed and not at all spontaneous.
I only watched the last series if my sons were visiting and express an interest.

To those who state don't watch it then and don't comment on this thread i say why not? If there is something or someone who engages in something which they might consider even slightly controversial everyone has a right to an opinion and to express that opinion so **** off!
Me? i don't like Milliband either, he is a ****** and i can state that too!
Not directed at anyone on here btw but just my opinion, i like em, all of em german and Italian too, i just like old cars! :)
I'm not having a go at anyone at all but i would rather spend £700 on a car (yes a BMW a Merc a Ford, Vauxhall Fiat of Alfa, any of them!) and another £500 fixing it up then sell it for £900 than trash it.

This however ? is complete crap

Anyone care to buy it and trash it?

Looks like the TG trio have run out of Marinas... having trashed them all ..:)

If it has not done so already, when this info hits the fans over on BMW fan sites ( hey, nearly a pun ) .... I wonder how they will react. ...

If they are chavved up MoT failed monstrosities then no harm done. Same with any car .....
.
Why is it when Top Gear smash up perfectly serviceable old cars it's frowned upon and everbody moans.

When the government do it, it's called the 'Scrappage Scheme'!

I would be suprised if the scrappage scheme hasn't been responsible for many of the cars TG have smashed up.

Of course, much of what we see could be down to clever camera angles. I have a photo of my old 214 somewhere. It looks MINT!
