I was thinking of getting the TF tinted but im not sure if this will attract more thieves or not?

Anyone got any opinions on this matter. I like being able to keep whats in my car discreet but tints can only do so much.

Not sure you can put them on.

Legally your ONLY allowed to apply tints to the rear window and the rear quaters..

However seeing as the MGF/TF is only a 2 seater..you might get pulled by the local plod and forced to remove them..:err:

I won't mention any names but I know a "plod" who owns an F and has his windows tinted. So, can't be that bad I would have thought?

Also, Paragon Tints were willing to do mine and they don't do illegal work so there must be some sort of loophole?

You can have tints on the front (every merc has them) but you can't go darker than 35% I think. SO no Limo tins, just smoke.
Not quite correct. 25% is the limit for windscreen and 30% for driver and passenger windows. see here.

Usually cars with darkened windows, tinted by the manufacturer are already on this limit.....Not sure about the F/TF...ChrisT might know.

i find it all a bit gangster drug dealer to be honest - on large MPV's you get away with it under the 'keeping the sun/glare off the kids' aspect but it's not for me really - as for security I would have though it would have attracted attention.

No wonder kids turn into whining pussy vegetarians these day. Protected from the sun!! PAH!

Anyone remember tints in their car when they were little? NO!!!!!!!!!

Sorry scuzza, got to say that was a divvy comment there - tints on your windows are to make other people theink youe are carrying a sleb in a ford galaxy. Nothing more.

Tints are allowed, up to 35% i think like steve said (or whoever it was...)

Bloody drug dealers.

i think it would look dodgey when you had your roof down wouldnt it?*

*i used to leave my windows up to stop the wind blowing my hair about

it would also add to your insurance.......

im with scuzza on this it looks a bit gay and drug dealery

once i was behind a big merc with full tints, number plate NB5 - i pulled along side and tried to stare in thinking it was a star of some sort - the drivers side window came down and Nigel Benn said "if you keep staring at me i'm going to punch you" - so i stopped and then thankfully he didn't, though i was brave enough to give him the sign while coming off a slip road that he had no chance of making - lol

right so hold on...what you guys are saying is most of you when you have the roof down you drive with the side windows up so u dnt mess ur hair up?

okay to me, driving with ur side windows up when u have ur roof down looks daft! =p

what's the point of a convertable if you don't enjoy the wind in ur hair?

:eek:mg2:

i'm with broon on the tinted windows thing. tinting the windows will look great but think about that plastic rear screen on the back. if that's still clear then it'l look stupid.

here's another thing, when you want to wave people on " to give way". YOU CANT due to the tinted windows. so i never really see a point of them. unless u want to get busy with the misses or something =p

I've tinted my windows with 35% i don't think it looks bad at all. the main reason is that here is south Africa smash and grabs occur very often (hi-jackings too unfortunately). My sister had her window smashed for her bag and the glass went every where(buggered the window motor)! so now both TF's have window tinting it defiantly feels safer!!

tinted windows in my opinon are a deterant they stray people away as you don't really know if someones in the car or not.

but saying that having the windows that tinted are iligal.

and back to the window up while hood is down. i am shamed!!! =o lol

leave that to the nissan micras, beatles and tigras! lol

i do around 80-90 with the window + hood down on the motorway i love feeling the wind rushing past you. obviously on a "private motorway" so i dnt break the speed limit :eyes:
