Thinking Of Selling...

Hi all.. Im seriously thinking about selling my MGF.. although I love her to death.. its just not practical anymore and I have been humming and ha'ing about this for months.
The main reason is, I am no longer single and getting married in July...we have 3 cars in the family, mine, the wife (to be) has a Ka, and the daughter has a clio.
We have 3 kids and a dog, and it is just impossible to get everyone in one vehicle comfortably.
I am thinking about a Freelander, but I keep hearing about HGF and Landrover gaskets. Has anyone had experience of these, and what are the pro's and con's against our current set up?
I know this is slightly deviating from all things MGF/TF, but I would really appreciate the forum's advice and wisdom.

Took my baby to a dealer at the weekend to se what he would give me part ex against a Freelander...... ÂŁ1600.... I mean ÂŁ1600!!!
Needless to say I told him to get stuffed... anyway... I have decided to keep her for now until the summer and see what I get offered then..
So for now, its tops down at every opportunity.... :smug_git:

You will find the Freelander very dull to drive, especially after the MGF. I had one a few years ago now and never really took to it, it has no character but it is quite a capable vehicle. If you can, get a TD4 over the 1.8 engine.

I traded mine in for a Discovery TD5 which is so much better. Last summer I used my Father in laws Freelander for a weeks holiday and found the same situation as with mine, capable but oh so dull.

If you do go for a Freelander, don't pay over the odds as there are plenty about for not much cash! Reliability wise, they are not all bad, my Father in law had his for 5 years (just traded in last month) and it never even needed a bulb replaced in that time. 100% reliability.
