Even if the attached picture refers to a MGF I'd like to know the function / purpose/ application of the 3 available pins # 3,4,5 on my MG TF.

I used 2 of them for my remote boot release, if IRC the #5 is a + live.
When I play with the switch to open the boot I hear a beeper, the same as when opening the door with the lights on. That's good to avoid an umproper use of the remote relase, but I'd like to know the connections.
I searched on different wiring dwg without result.

Ohoh HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE FORUM FRIENDS !!!!!!

I think t hey're there for testing purposes. So in case of electrical gremlins you've got a feed and it's useful for fault finding.

I wouldn't trust them as a power source for something 'heavy'. I'd always feed straight from the battery and relayed through an ignition contact.

This fusebox wasn't only used in the F/TF, it was also used in the R8 200/400 and the R3 200.

In these models the connection "4" is used to power the SRS system and it is protected by Fuse 7.

I traced the connections 3 and 5 a long time ago... I'll dig out the details.

My TF was registered in August 2003 and has the same fuse box as shown in the photo. I belive the new fusebox was introduced in the late 03/04 models.

As an aside i lashed out on the MG TF workshop manual from Smiths and the fusebox shown in the manual is the updated version, the one in my TF is not covered. I had to purchase a CD version of the F manual on Ebay to get the details of the fuse box in my car.

The LoLarm advertised in the MGOCC magazine picks up its 12v fused supply from spade No. 3 of the fuse box.

FrKevin, if you PM me your postal address i will send you a CD with the MG F full manual on it. It also contains the details of the Lucus 5AS Immobiliser ECU which is another item not covered in the MG TF Service Manual.

I have an 98 F and the fuse board looks the same. I had the lolarm and took the feed from number 3 - switched with ignition. Subsequently changed alarm for the one like the later TF i.e. in the coolant bottle. Still use the same feed through a fuse works ok.

I have fitted the loom for my genuine heated seat kit and genuine front fog light loom today. My TF is an early 2002 (vin -600300) Pin 3 was needed for the heated seat kit and pins 4 and 5 the foglight loom. I followed the official MGR instructions for both kits. While I was fiddling with the fusebox I installed the relay for the HRW/hardtop and noticed that the red relay (shown in the picture above) that sits above the yellow HRW relay is missing. Given that it is supposed to be the relay for the engine bay (not radiator) cooling fan I assume that this is not good and I should source and install one ASAP? I have never noticed the engine bay cooling fan coming on and the temperature gauge has always given expected readings, no overheating etc. Why would it be missing and should it be there?
