My TF's failed the MOT on N/S/F upper radius arm and N/S/R inner tie rod bush has excessive play. I can find the outer tie rod ends but nobody seams to sell the inner ones. Cant find a n/s/f upper suspension arm either?

Anyone know wher ei can get either of these parts? I've to two weeks for free re-test.

Have you tried a local breakers? It seems a lot of F's and TF's end up there because the HG has gone and the owners don't want to/can't afford to pay the ridiculous prices that some garages want to charge for fixing them. If only they came on here for advice first!!

Rimmer Bros were showing upper arms on back order, which is a worry.

I know we can't expect the 'NLA' 10-year rule to be enforceable for MGR, but do the new cars not have similar suspension set ups to the old ones? If so then MG UK should be making them available.

I find it frustrating that it's easier to get new parts for my 74 Midget than it is for my TF!! :dunno:

Xpart are the parts supplier for MGR built cars not MG UK, MG UK have said that their suspension arms produced for the 'new' TF may fit with 'some modification'. Re-bushing the arm with new bushes from Polybush could be an option depending on the bush.

It is a common fail area and there doesn't seem to be a proper answer for replacements witch is something or a worry.

I did a search on ebay and found these...

The fact that there's no photo, are ÂŁ40 and are described as doing both front & rear made me hesitate hitting the Buy It Now button... I saw a set of lower arms on sale a week or so back for ÂŁ150 new.

I also don't understand why a simple bush replacement option was made possible. Also, with the wide range of sources of the parts used to build them, you would think someone would still have them for sale new.

This is no big deal. The front upper arm can easily be removed. Wing liner - Bumper -armature - crashcan - then remove the arm. That should take about one hour. The arm is fitted with needle rollers. These are available for somethingunder ÂŁ20 but they are a real sod for an amateur to fit without good tools. Best take the arm and new bearings to an engineering shop and get them pushed out and in for a small price.

The tie rod ends you can do with your eyes shut. Then get it all retracked.
