Apparently they are a better fit. Instead of underlay like the F they have a foam backing.
This is something I will be doing, in fact I got some second-hand TF carpets off fleabay, unfortunately the morons folded them, twice, to send them and of course the foam backing is split.

 

My TF carpets also come away at the doors. CJJ has a how to on using heavy duty velcro to keep it in place.

 

Have seen the velcro tip mine had that done before but they still pull away.

My trophy had TF carpets fitted when I first got it, there was an issue on the drivers side just in front of the door, the carpet bulged around where the control box (I think for the wing mirrors). I ended up replacing it with a set of Newton Commercial carpet for a perfect fit.

 

Think I'll go the Newton Commercial route, seen several good reports about their carpets.

A later TF carpet won't have the indentation for the electric window ecu that lives in the footwell as this function was built into the Pekteon scu when that was phased on (oval key fobs).

The TF carpet is also one piece where I believe the F one is two?

Newton carpets definitely fit better, at the end of the day you get what you pay for in this case

 

Just stripped out all the old carpets and trim from my 1999 F and replaced them with carpets door seals hood seals etc from a late 2005 TF.

Fit is a lot better it does mean center console to do the job properly but you could if you wanted I think cut the carpet in half down the middle to get it under the center console if you left that in.

Also as mentioned you do need to cut the foam backing away in the drivers foot well to allow the ECU to fit in.

Apart from that well pl;eased with it lifts the interior. And yes if you are a little clumsy with your feet the carpet will pull away from around the door. But its not a problem when you know its there.

 

May I ask where you sourced them from and what price you paid? I ask as my 2004 TF carpet and seals could do with replacing and with the interior all out, seems a good time to do that!

 

The fit on my original 1996 MGF was poor and the fit on the replacement MGTF in 2002 was just as poor

You could say my 1999 F has been rebuilt by Martin. Not only with the interior but TF wings, bonnet, but also a boot lid, Double S S/S exhaust, a new hood and of course the door cards, center console, carpets and seals all from a late model TF.
