Tax

Well I've just taxed the V8 online at £245 for 12 months so that'll be a year from now before I have to pay the £435 or whatever it's going to go up to.

Let's just hope the current lot don't take off the band reduction for vehicles registered prior to 23.03.06 - mind you I'm not holding my breath.

Regards

Should give you plenty of time to save up for it Jimbo but hopefully they keep it at £245.
Here's hoping!

In all honesty tho', when have those gangsters ever turned down an opportunity to screw you out of even more tax?

I did put some money away to cover the extra costs of running the V8 and the upgrades I had in mind, tending to shrink rather quickly though.

As I said I'm not holding my breath.

Hi Jimbo,

Mine is due at the end of January thankfully, so i will escape the increase for another year as well.

Currently £245, i paid £215 this year as falling when it does, i managed to slip in before the budget increase. Think mine is going to £310 as from next March or whenever the budget may be.

Plus the increase in fuel tax which is planned at the end of the month and the dreaded VAT rise in January of next year, hard times for many i fear may be ahead.

Our cars, as they are getting older are worth less and less, and i fear for some who may be on a budget, may well have to think twice as to whether or not it is a viable proposition to carry on running them. If these folk try to sell them on they will be worthless.

It will be a shame if this does happen as i thought that this 'Great Nation that we live in', allowed you to choose as to what you did. Not to be dictated to by those who think that us mere mortals should all drive round in an electric car at 10 MPH!!

Sorry mate for rambling on.

I'll leave it there.

Regards,

Dave.

On the thorny issue of Road Tax.

I heard today from a trader ..... He recently had an older 4x4 big drop dead job, he yesterday went to tax it with a huge wedge of cash for the whole year - which he always does, He was told that these bigger vehicles will now be charged the class 7 rate for MOT - But the road tax will remain the same next year as this.

On the basis of believing half of what you see and nothing that you hear ...

No matter ramble as much as you want, I do.

My previous KV6 75 was similar - needed taxing March of each year so I always paid the increase 11 months later - just felt good that!

Cheers
thats a really nice V8 you got there mate, hoping to get one myself one day

Cheers mate, I'll tell you it's well worth the wait.
Remember the old trick if the tax band is set to go up dramatically
Say your current disc is due to expire in april or may or even june and it is anounced that at the end of march the increase is going to be large, on the last day of feb send your old in the post for a refund and the next day re tax your car for a year at the old rate. gives you an 11 month breather from the new rate.

As my post above, that's how the tax fell due on my previous 75, always paid the increase 11 months late.

What's the betting a new rule will be stealthily introduced to prevent this kind of shocking behaviour !
