Hi!
Today I was with my MGF 1.8i 1999 (non VVC) at the yealy MOT controll (Sweden). The car did not pass the MOT :(
Following values:
HC:196 (100 max valid value)
CO:2,1 (0,5)
CO 2500: 5,6 (0,3 CO value at 2500 rpm)
Lambda:0,84(0,97-1,03)

Last year - ok MOT with values:
HC:0,99(100 max valid value)
CO:0 (0,5)
CO 2500: 0 (0,3 CO value at 2500 rpm)
Lambda:1,1 (0,97-1,03)

I think the lambda sensor is broken?

Before you go and get a lambda check the little black vaccum pipes that run from the ECU to the manifold etc... Meg had one with a tny hole and it screwed the emissions twice - I changed loads of stuff then found the hole and sealed it with 10p worth of shrink wrap and then she passed!
