I think what you have there is a vis valve shorting out from oil residue from the manifold

 

Seems to be coming from a little box (VIS motors?) Any ideas?

VIS Motors... The black boxes one on edge at the left back and the other horizontal in the front of it. Ignore the green circle

Ouch...what's involved with rectifying it? I'm pretty sure the VIS valves are working when it's running, there is a definite kick at 3,000rpm and again around 5,500rpm or so. I read about catch tanks, but is it too late?

 

To replace the VIS motors is a simple 10 minute job. But they cost about £60 - 80 each.

A very comprehensive how to, thanks for the link Edd. You reckon it is one of the motors shorted and gummed up as TS autos said? I guess it needs mending with a new one.

 

Simplest and easiest way is to replace the VIS Motors. If the inlet manifold is rattling then replace the whole thing as I did.. Or you can go this route... Click Me

Well as far as I can hear the inlet manifold is not rattling at the moment - the VIS motors do appear to be doing their job, but I think the clicking one could stop altogether soon considering the sounds it makes. I'll have a look at eBay prices...

Yeah, there seems to be nothing on there anyway. Where would you suggest I get a new one from? I had a glance through RimmerBros's website but couldn't see them.
