My 25 has the standard cassette player fitted. The thing that is bugging me is that the steering wheel controls only work intermittently, plus they are falling off the wheel.

Is this something I can easilly repair myself, and if so how, or is it a job fro MG-Rover? The car is NOT under warranty.

Just found out from messing around with it that if I remove the controls from the wheel, they work correctly but when I put them back on they fail again.

They should be screwed onto the metal section of the wheel. I can only think of two things,

1-The earth on the wheel is very poor,

2-The wires have got damaged and when you pull it out of the wheel the wires connect and hence they work.

I would try and get hold of a new on to test and see what happens with that.

Are these readilly available from dealers or am I likely to have to go to the scrappy for one off an old car?
