Got a bit of an issue with the SRS system on my 2003 MGTF! When I turn the ignition on, all the dash lights appear as expected, but at the same time there's a noise which sounds as though something is being powered up; it's a bit like a fuel pump being pressurised, but I know it isn't that because it's coming from the direction of where the Airbag SRS ECU is under the centre console.
At exactly the same time this powering up sound stops, the SRS light goes off for a second and then back on; my thinking is that the capacitor in the SRS ECU has gone up the chuck - any thoughts would be appreciated please..!!

You're sure the noise you can hear is not the ICV stepper motor?
The noise appears to be coming from just behind the gear lever in the console, which makes me think it's the SRS ECU, and especially since the dash light goes off momentarily when this noise stops..!!

Haven't come across that one before, the usual suspect(s) for the SRS light to come on are the connections to the seat-belt pretensioners.
