Check the plug going into the door. Make and break the joint. It might just be a bad connection.
Wheres the plug going to the door? you mean the ISO?
The front speakers are 6" iirc. Aprox 16cm. Depending on the car model and the speakers already fitted, you may not actually have tweeters in there anyway (i know my 200 didn't have any tweeters, just a blanking plate behind the fixture)

As for replacement speakers, i fitted a pair of FLi Intergrator 6's a couple of weeks ago. Very good set of speakers for the money, connected to a Sony head unit. And it would only take a moment to connect a pair of these FLi Tweeters to the wires.

The sound quality over the standard Rover speakers is stunning, even for a relatively cheap set of speakers. Also added a pair of 13cm speakers to the rear mountings for a bit of rear fill.

Sadly, the speakers mounting holes do not line up with the standard holes in the door. I've had to mount mine directly to the door card with some self tapping screws and alot of effort. We were in too much of a rush to get to the last Meet, so drilling into the metal of the door was out of the question. Because the speaker itself is a different size to the grill which used to be fitted to the door card, the speaker doesn't sit flush. But it does stay secured in place quite safely, and the sound quality is still top rate.

Pictures to follow :p

Where the wires actualy go into the door there is a small plug to transfer the wire into the door covered by a rubber boot about 20 mm round.
just a thought, have you checked the fade/balance?
Front speakers are 17cm 6.5 inch. For a proper fit get a piece of mdf and put the old speaker on it and draw round it. Cut it out with a jigsaw and drill the 3 screw holes that line up with the existing holes in the door. The using a jigsaw again cut a hole in your new mounting bracket for your new speakers to sit in.

Make sense?

+1 the speakers are 17cm not 16cm! and using M.D.F is exactly what I did!
I also fitted some sound deadening to the metal around the the speaker hole in the door, (More so to create an air tight seal between the inner door skin and the M.D.F than for the deadning properties)

Cheers,
Matt
paint the mdf because water down the window will cause the mdf to expand and crumble.
