I don't know about your car but my 97 VVC requires expensive iridium plugs - around £30 for a set!

 

A set of MGR plugs are often thrown in practically for free with MGR branded service kits that are often found on eBay.

 

It is a wasted spark system, so the two coils will sit above two of the plugs.

 

Hi All,

Im attacking the car with a much needed service this weekend and is the first time I have had the oppurtunity with the MG.

Which spark plug set up am I likely to find in my 160 sunstorm which I believe was built in 2003 but registered in 2004. Is the coil over or standard spark plug set up?

It will be mems 3 which means two coil packs directly over plugs 2 and 4 and short HT leads to 1 and 3.

They don't need expensive iridium plugs, MG Rover didn't specify expensive anything!

 

My car requires cheap spark plugs at less than/ around £2 each.

 

Thanks for the replies guys, I got a service pack for about £25 which included everyting except the fuel filter which seemed pretty good value!!

Got a set of NGK Platinum Plugs for £19 of ebay a few weeks ago, K-Series runs sweet with them.

 

We recommend NGK platinum tipped plugs. They're very good quality
