There is no one sat in the car and I have no idea who's it is. I cannot block it in unfortunately as access is required for my next door neighbours.

I have left a polite note under the windscreen wiper suggesting that they ask me before parking on my drive.

But I feel so impotent. It has really annoyed me and there is nothing I can do.

Try and set their alarm off?

I am conflicted.

I don't want a fight, I won't call the police unless the driver refuses to move it (the police have got enough to do trying to catch scrotes), but I don't want him parked on my drive!

Grrrrrrr...I guess I am just venting frustration.

Is there any way that I can find out who owns the car?

What would you do if you need to get out urgently ? Righty, call the police.
For a compromise I'd call them and ask what to do. I have made the experience that they try to reach the unknown driver before a tow-car will be send. Let the police work for you, it's their job :)

Yes but at least he's covered because he's reported it... if the police dither and there's an emergency, the onus is then on them.

I can't really block it in.

So to try and explain the positioning.

I live in a small close off a close. There are 4 properties that are accessed over a red bricked driveway. I own the property closest to the entrance. I have two parking spaces outside my house, then there is an area of my property that I have to keep clear for access to the other properties then there is another parking space at 90 degrees to the first two that runs parallel to the access way. When leaving the main two parking spaces we reverse into the 3rd space to get out. With a car there it is very awkward and means a 10 point turn.

The 3rd space is free at both ends so 'blocking in' would need two cars and the length of the space would not allow it.

This happens to us every now and again so we reverse our car (If one is on the drive) right up to the drivers door so they can't get in unless they go in the passenger side and climb over. Seems to work! No-one has had the cheek to knock on the door and ask us to move it yet!

It appears that the matter is not a police matter.

This was taken from the Thames Valley Police website:

Q: Someone has parked on my land. What can I do?
A: As the vehicle is on private land, it is for you (or the owner of the land) to resolve the issue.

The following suggestions may help you:
make local enquiries to see if you can trace the driver or get information about when the vehicle was left

you may be able to arrange for the vehicle's removal by contacting the local authority. There may be a charge for this service which you could claim from the owner if he or she can be traced

seek legal advice from your solicitor or from your local Citizen's Advice Bureau.
Contact us again if you have further evidence or information which suggests that there is now something suspicious about the vehicle.

So it seems like I am buggered.

That's so strange to me Matt. If had a similar problem, I'd call the police, give them the numberplate and they normally try to phone the owner ....

Go on moaning btw., good vent. We're here in good and in bad times :D

i'm confused so forgive me if i'm wrong.are you saying someone has parked in a parking space that you like to use for getting in and out your drive thats in or near a shared access way? I just dont get it,is it actually on your drive or parking spaces or whatever or just a slight pain in the arse that someones actually parked there? I think most people with driveways have problems with inconsiderate parking causing stress.
Apart from that I have no real advice other than you can get in and out with effort, somebody may not have taken your needs into consideration sure, but hey dont sweat it,really its no biggy.
