What engine and gearbox do you have. They vary in the fusebox.

It's actually a very useful question and one that many people would like answering. We really ought to have a listing of recommended ignition-live points for all the variations. I might start a thread on it.

its a 1-8 turbo

 

In mine (Mk 2 1.8T) I found Fuse 2 (that's the one at top RHS in the UB Fusebox) is live with the ignition on.

The different years/engines/gearboxes seems to mean the fuses are used for different things, so a list would be very handy.

Live

On the DIESELS you get a feed which is only live when the engine is started and which turns off about five seconds after the engine is turned off if you take if from FUSE 4 in the underbonnet fuse box. This is the 15A fuse 2nd down on the right. Very useful for LED running lights.

cheers wuzerk, i found one pretty quickly on the zt-t cdti(sadly now sold) but on this zt 1.8 turbo i cant find one, why would they be different? any ideas.

 

The engine compartment fuse panel is the same for all models, although some of the circuits connected to the different fuses, and the fuse ratings, can vary according to the different model.

Fuses 1,2,3 & 4 are switched with the ignition.

 

That's useful information for generating an 'ignition live' point list. Do you know how the fuses 1, 2, 3 & 4 vary with model/components?

Fuse 1 - All 15amp

KV6. Heated Oxygen sensor, purge control valve, crankshaft position sensor, balance valve.

1.8. Same as above, less the balance valve.

M47R. Engine control module, glow plug ECU, CMP sensor, fuel pressure sensor, EGR regulator, MAF sensor.


Fuse 2

KV6 (w/o traction control) + 1.8 - 20Amp
Fuel Injectors, ignition coils, ECM.

KV6 with traction control - 30 Amp
Same as above plus traction control.

M47R - 30Amp
ECM.



Fuse 3 - 15Amp

KV6 + 1.8 - Heated Oxygen sensor, Camshaft position sensor.

Fuse 4 - 15 Amp

All models
Cooling fan, compressor clutch relay, auto transmission selector, cooling fan relay, reverse light switch.
