Hi Dave,

I would like to know if it is possible to fit a more softer suspension under my rover25, i asked my local dealer the same question, but he said it wasn't possible... i think he just dislikes people who like to "tweak" their car to their own needs! The reason for asking is the kind of roughness in driving, every bump or structure in the road is noticable. In the biginning it was fun, the rather hard character of the suspension was fun to drive, but now it begins to anoy me a little bit. And would like to make it a little bit softer. :) any ideas? TNX, kevin.

you should try my bone shaker of a rover 100

can feel the slightest crack, bump and groove..

you could possibly get some adjustable dampers, maybe you need softer springs. although im sure MGR spent some time getting it to handle right so maybe best left alone

Now heres my 2pence worth:D
Can someone tell me if the Suspension on the latest 25 or MG Models is the same as on my 218is same setup as the Vi model? Coz the 25 drives totally different even to my car & i think its just about right.. As for the Rover 100 i had the Gti metro for years & the Suspension was fine for me... & it handled the road as good as the 200 i have now. Only snag is them Hydragas units too expensive to fix.>=(

I would rather the Car handled better against softer & no handling! Buy a bigger
car if thats what you want....

Softer suspension?

Yes, the suspension setup is the same type of setup, but the 25 has the Vi suspension spring and damper rates, which is why you probably dislike the 'taut' ride???

I would leave it as it is :)

What wheels do you have, Fizz?

Low profile tyres will exaggerate a stiff suspension setup >=(

Otherwise, as a last resort, you could fit the entire [softer] suspension setup from a 200=P

Re: Softer suspension?

The firm ride on my 25 ultimately resulted in me getting rid of the car !

I spend 10-12 hours a day in my car so it has to be comfortable.

My current car (Rover 420 Exec) is much better, although there is still room for improvement. Later this year I will be changing the 420 for a 75.

I can't understand why some drivers prefer an uncomfortable, harsh, jittery ride ?

the wheels are 15" 185/55 alloy. And simply buying a bigger car isn't always the option ... i just can't afford it... :)

you can always look on http://www.fizz.yucom.be for fotographs of my pride under "mijn rover"
