What actually goes wrong with the clock/radio module that forces people to replace it?

My wifes 600 has the R860 which beeps once and shuts off, which doing a search leads me to the display being faulty or the cables loose.

The display works okay, but the clock always starts from 12:00 when ever you drive the car.... its more of an elapsed travel time counter. Its odd , as if it was an earthing problem, surely it wouldnt work at all ?

I looked on the back of the stero and theres 3 sockets, I've found the plugs for the lower 2, so am I missing one.

My wifes pushed the stereo back in now and I cant find the removal tool - doh, but any info gratefully received.

Thanks

The third socket could be for the 6-CD-Multichanger.

From what you say, it appears your radio/clock is connected to the ignition switch only and does not have a continuous electrical supply as it should, hence the elapsed time counter...:)

You need someone who has a basic understanding of htese things to have a look at it and then see what needs to be done to rectify.
