I have an intermittent smell of petrol in my 05 Tf135. The car was only done 7000 miles and has been meticulously serviced including a recent fuel filter change and yes the unions are dry. Any ideas?

Hi Jan,

I had this on my 2009 TF LE500. Took me a while to track it down. If the unions are dry with the engine running, then the joints should be fine. Also worth checking the fuel lines themselves, the majority of which can be reached by removing the griil in the boot.
Next thing to check is can you 'burp' the filler cap? By that I mean if you press the edge of the fuel filler cap does it hiss? If not, them the pressure that it should maintain is leaking out.
On mine it was the fuel hose which allows the air out when you put the fuel in. It had some tiny little splits in it. The part number is WJH103480 available from Rimmers at around a fiver.

Hope this helps

Cheers,

Tony
